Proton And Harley-Davidson

Hantu Laut

I was right in my condemnation of the quality of Proton cars. The MB of Pahang and Kelantan had also come out and said their Perdanas incur high maintenance costs.

The high costs were not merely because of Proton poor quality there must be some element of hanky-panky. The individuals in charge of sending the cars for service and maintenance must be in cahoots with the dealers.

Federal and State departments should stop buying Proton cars to send a clear message to Proton to pull up their socks to improve the quality of their cars. It's government owned and funded by taxpayers. Those guys in Proton are resting on their laurels and are quite happy to produce crappy machines.

If Proton wish to continue producing low quality cars and expect to sell well, I suggest they send their marketing boys to Harley-Davidson to learn all about marketing hype. How to sell crappy machines at premium prices.

Harley-Davidson image marketing was so good it managed to fool the world's big bike lovers to buy their crappy over-sized and under-powered machines at mind-boggling prices. It's a growing cult of machismo show-off on fat ugly machines.

Real bike enthusiasts don't buy Harley, they buy other high-end bikes, Japanese or European.

Harley recently bought over M.V.Augusta, one of the finest and highly regarded high-end bike manufacturers sold for a song by the myopic management at Proton a year ago.

Let's hope Harley don't introduce their crappy engineering to those superb machines.

The purchase of those Mercedes Benz cars by Trengganu is now a fait accompli and the Prime Minister should let it be and allow those cars to be used by the assemblymen.

Sometimes, favours don't come free, you have to buy them.

Maybe the Menteri Besar of Trengganu should enlighten the Prime Minister why he was so generous to the councillors even at time of economic downturn when government should be tightening its belt.

One thing for sure, he knows the Prime Minister can't remove him, he was appointed by the Sultan.

how can you condemn Proton you BN symphatizer? Doesn't make sense.. wait let me guess.. you're 'on the fence' eh? Well if you're 'on the fence', that means you're neither here nor there. So why even bother writing a blog about politics then considering you're one of BN's posterboys or UMNO's cybertroopers? Hah?

Not only Proton cars are unreliable but also Perodua...I took delivery of my Viva on Friday and the following day the car lost power at 90km/h on the highway on 5th gear so much so that I have to shift down to regain speed. When I got stuck in traffic, the aircond compressor gave out sound like a kapcai...so much about MADE IN MALAYSIA brand. And yet the power that be insists on Perdana to be the official car for ministers and so forth.

Actually, Harley Davidson has improved its manufacturing quality tremendously since the late 1990's, even while maintaining its classic design outlook.

It used to be a joke that you had to buy 2 Harleys - because one would always be under repair.

They had a close brush with bankruptcy at one point due to dwindling sales, but the company is doing quite well right now.

We have been royally "sodomized" (the in word nowadays in Malaysia!) by the BN for so long that this does not come as a big shock!
We have known proton were giving us sub-standard cars for years. And to protect Proton, we have been paying hefty prices for foreign cars. Added to that, we are also paying hefty Petrol prices!
As for our flip-flop PM, what is he going to do about the Terengganu MB? NOTHING!
Come on, should any of this surprise us? NO!

I bought Proton Saga becoz of its Mitsubishi engine, becoz nowadays a Mitsubishi can cost 100k to 300k.

The latest Proton Saga with Mitsubishi engine only cost RM26,999/=

So far so good, except for its over-sized 14" tyre, which caused the car to be slightly under-powered
( like Benz 190D ) and drank fuel at 60-65 Km/gallon.

I actually wanted to buy a Suzuki Swift, but it cost 75K; costlier than Vios.

And so I find it wiser to buy 3-Saga instead of 1-Swift...so that my sons all have their own private car too. No need to take turn to share just one stupid car.

For anyway, to me a car is but a mere Tool of Transport only. 10-years down the road it turns into old-junk too, irrespective of its Brands.

The most important thing is that we belong to a prosperous country and have a happy home. Even bullock cart also okay.

Know why Queen Elizabeth always rode on her Horse Carriage on important occasions ? Even their Royal Marriages are conducted on Horse Carriage too. Why not on their World famous Rolls Royce ?

Becoz the Horses are Living Beings while the Rolls Royce is a mere man made life-less lump of sheet metal.

So all cars are just a heap of metal and plastic on 4-rubber wheels... no big deal and nothing to be proud of.

On the contrary if you are not careful, car can bankrupt you and cause many other miseries too.

The government must improve the Public Mode of Transport so that we don't need to be car servants forever.

HL...if the Terengganu govt really want cars that are low-maintenance and frugal, they should have opted for Japanese cars. Greedy buggers!

Proton Perdana { 100K } and Mercedes C200 { 350K } share the same V6 Engine.

All the car owners I spoke to are happy with their car's performance and even mileage too.

All modern cars required proper handling and maintenance.

Some how Company cars always have very frequent breakdowns and cost very much more to repair. This includes lorries, tractors and Bulldozers too.
