Loose Cannons Playing To The Gallery: Nazri versus Mahathir

Hantu Laut

Nazri's outburst against former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on the BTN issue was nothing more than playing to the gallery. An attempt to redeem himself from his usual brand of antics.

There are better ways to response to Tun Mahathir's comment on the issue and branding him as a racist certainly is not one of them.

Nazri needs to learn some table manners and learn how to use the right tools for the occasion.

If it takes a thief to catch a thief than Nazri is a bigger racist than Mahathir.

All of a sudden you find all kind of maggots crawling out of the woodwork and claimed to have inside information on the racist policy of Mahathir.

Was it an indoctrination of racism or a programme to instill patriotism? This man, a former director of the agency says Mahathir transformed the BTN into a super-racist agency.

On the other hand, this man who is a Chinaman seems to have more finesse and decorum than those Malays that attacked Mahathir. He tells a different story.

Gerakan President Dr Koh Tsu Koon revealed the more plausible side of the story.

Koh admitted he himself has attended one such course with other political and corporate leaders, presided personally by Mahathir and said the former prime minister may not be aware of the latest slant in the BTN courses.Below is what he said.

“The content of the courses emphasised on unity and understanding as well as the need to handle all issues with great care and sensitivity.

“However, recent feedback from participants since last year showed that the BTN course has diverted from its earlier version.

“Participants, including JPA scholars, felt very upset and disheartened,” he said and added that the need to revamp is based on such feedback.

By the statement above it appears that Mahathir was right that there was nothing wrong with the BTN courses.Someone, must have changed the syllabus after he stepped down as prime minister.

It would also be interesting to know how the racist syllabus is conducted, pitting the Malays against other races when there are Chinese,Indians and other non-Malays participants attending the course.

Calling Mahathir a racist is a gross injustice when his 22-year rule proved otherwise. Most Chinese and Indians voted for the BN during his time. The Chinese and Indians jumped ship after Pak Lah took over.

So, who is the racist and the liar here?

Nazri should be sacked from UMNO and sacked from the Najib Cabinet immediately. What is the point of keeping a cabinet Minister whose very words and actions are being used as ammunition by Pakatan to attack the Barisan Nasional Government. Nazri is a liability for UMNO and Barisan Nasional, PM Najib has a duty of care to get rid this dirty thorn in the flesh of BN.The sooner Nazri is thrown out the better is it for UMNO, otherwise Najib will be bogged down in a battle that he would not want and could not win.

Furthermore if Dr Mahathir is branded a racist, then UMNO is racist for defending and promoting Malay rights, then MIC, MCA and Gerakan are also racist parties. Lim Kit Siangs's DAP are also racist for defending and promoting the rights of the Chinese, Hindraf is also racist, hell even the Malay,Chinese and Indian educationist are racist for promoting and defending their race's language interest. With this kind of benchmarking are all of us racist in one form or the other? Nazri is worse than a racist he is an extremist.

Eddy / HL,

Nazri should be sacked because what he says is ammunition for Pakatan? Shouldn't he be sacked because he's a liar or his statements are untrue?
Here in lies the reason why a lot of Malaysians (like me) stopped supporting the BN! People are sacked or are deemed "sackable" beacuse they say the "incorrect" things. Don't matter if they are right! Sweep every wrong & corrupted agenda under the carpet (anything to hide it from the people & the opposition).
Initially when the Selangor Govt. came up with the original opposition against the BTN...idiots like Sharizat & our DPM (God help us this guy is supposed to be one day the next PM?!) said there was nothing wrong with the BTN. Then suddenly out of the blues the Cabinet decided to "revamp" the BTN. If there was nothing wrong with the BTN then why "revamp" it?
And if the Cabinet has decided to "revamp" the BTN, then deep down we all know that Nazri is probably correct.
If the BTN was "changed" after Mahatir stepped-down...then he (Mahatir) should get his facts right before commenting shouldn't he (deep down we know he knows what the BTN is all about doesn't matter he's not PM anymore)?
As for Kho Szu Khoon, well we know what a "yes-man" he is! Another Minister in the Najib Cabinet (like Sharizat) who lost their seats & rejected by the people but are still in the Cabinet!
You think he's going to outrightly go against Mahatir?! Ya rite, another "Testicularly challenged" BN politician!

I beg to differ.Nazri was absolutely a true gentleman to come out to denounce Mahathir for his racist comments with regard to this BTN's modules. It does not serve any purpose and Najib's one concept would flush down the drain if this type of racist module is to be continued.

melvin,

Everybody agrees with that. The problem is Nazri's response to Mahathir.

Do you have to be rude to prove yourself right. He has become like most Pakatan's supporters, uncouth and uncultured.

HL,

I refer to your comments to Melvin...
Nazri has become like most Pakatan supporters...uncouth & uncultured? I consider myself a Pakatan supporter (well actually I'm more just an Oppostion supporter...if the BN lost & became the Opposition I would probably support them once again!) & I consider myself pretty cultured...not only in speech but in behaviour. Please don't insult people like me with general statements.
I however consider most UMNO supporters uncouth & uncultured also (since they think they have the usual "Ketuanan" agenda....they can't even compete with the other races without the NEP & call themselves Tuan?). As you can see...I said that last sentence without resorting to profanities!
As for Nazri being rude...was he? As Nazri correctly pointed out...when Mahatir was critizing Tunku Abdul Rahman...no one said that Mahatir was rude (because they would have probably landed in ISA or jail)!
Lastly, you think Najib has not "allowed" Nazri to say these things? Nazri would not have the guts to say anything if not permitted by Najib.
Let's give Mahatir his due...yes, he developed Malaysia but let's also not "sweep his wrongs" under the carpet (as UMNO & their supporters so loves to do).

SM,
My apology if you take exception to what I said.I didn't say all, I said most.I make my assumption going by the language used by majority of pro-Pakatan supporters comments in various blogs. They are high on profanities and expletives and low on decorum.

I don't usually read pro-UMNO blogs except for the few on my blogroll. In fact, I have not read Malaysia Today for a while now because it has become too predictable with its contents.
