Gay Australian MP "I Want To Get Married"

couple2
Aust politician Ian Hunter with partner Leith Semmens in 2006.

A SOUTH Australian Labor MP has made an impassioned plea to marry the man he loves, accusing the Rudd Government of standing in his way.

Labor MLC Ian Hunter today told parliament it was wrong for Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to continue to impose his personal beliefs on the rest of the community and disallow gay marriage.

Mr Hunter has been openly gay since he was elected to parliament and been in a relationship with his partner Leith for almost 20 years.

Gay marriage is not allowed in Australia but permitted in countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, South Africa, Norway, Sweden and Spain.

SHOULD MARRIAGE BE RESTRICTED TO HETEROSEXUAL COUPLES? Have your say in the poll to the right of this page and in the comment box below.

Some states in the U.S. including Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa and Maine have also allowed the union.

Mr Rudd has previously stated the Federal Government will look at partnership registration.

Mr Hunter however said he was no longer willing to "accept the crumbs from the table" and this view was out of step.

"I want to get married," he said.

"But I can't - I can't marry the person I love, not in my own country."

Mr Hunter said no one had ever been able to provide him with a reason why marriage should be confined to a man and a woman and he would not accept the argument that he may soon be able to register his partnership in future.

"I want to get married ... Next year will be the twentieth anniversary of my not being married to my partner Leith," he said.

"Yes I could travel to Massachusetts or South Africa and get married.

"But I want to share my marriage with my family and my friends - like we all do.

"I want to get married and you, Mr Rudd, are stopping me.

SUCKS!

Here's good old luscious Mrs Robinson who loves sex the old-fashioned way and says all gays are mentally sick.

Anti-gay MP stands down from politics
Written by Richard Clarendon

Iris Robinson, the Northern Ireland MP who called gays an "abomination", has announced she is standing down from politics due to depression.

The UK’s Pink News reported that Robinson, the Democratic Unionist MP for Strangford and wife of Northern Ireland's first minister, Peter Robinson, released a statement yesterday saying she could no longer meet the demands of her job

The 60-year-old was labelled a bigot for a series of outbursts last year in which she made offensive comments about homosexuality.

In 2008, she told the Belfast Telegraph that homosexuality was "comparable" to paedophilia. She also told a radio show that homosexuality was a mental illness and could be "cured". Robinson escaped a police prosecution for the comments.

In the statement, she said: "Over the years, I have undergone a long series of operations and, though I have never talked about it publicly, I have also battled against serious bouts of depression.

"Only those who have faced similar challenges in life will know the ordeal faced by those who are profoundly depressed, and the distress caused to those around them as they grapple with personality-changing illness. One in four of the population struggle with mental illnesses at one level or another, yet few talk about it openly.”

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Bro, as in the Quran, homosexuality is banned in the Bible:

Gen 19; tells about Sodom and Gomorrah..

Some more Bible quotes,

Lev 18:22-23 "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."

Lev 20:13 "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death."

Anyway, even though Australia had decriminalise sodomy since 1997. Tough luck for the Aussie pair, their PM Kevin Rudd is a social conservative and he firmly believes that marriage is between a man and a woman.

HL,

Is there a point to your article (maybe I'm getting to old playing this "devil's advocate" thingy?!)?
Though I am a Catholic & do not agree to gays & gay marriages, I do not judge them nor do I "bash" them just because they are different.
Coming back to the point of your article...are you "poking" fun at the Aussies or the real reason i.e. poking fun at DSAI?

SM,
I didn't write those article, they came from the MSM in the West.I just post it to be in line with the current political situation in the country.

I am no homophobic,I have gay friends and I treat them like any other friends, but gay marriage no,no can do mate, distasteful. Our part of the world have not yet accepted this kind of perversion.

There are gays, don't forget, there are are also bisexuals, get the best of both worlds.

Eddy, in his infinite wisdom, saith that the Lord saith that homos ought to be killed. Since thou art a Bible-fearing person, I think thou shan't stop at this. Aye, there are more persons who ought to be killed, according to thy Lord!

Look at what Jesus hath to say about the punishment to be meted out to the offspring of women who refuse to repent of their sin of fornication (the punishment, in its severity, cannot be compared, of course, to the punishment meted out to female fornicators in contemporary Malaysia!) (Revelations 2:21 to 2:23):

► And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

► Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

► And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

And the problem of Lina Joy in Talibanic Malaysia pales in comparison to the Bible-sanctioned punishment to be meted out to those who try to turn thee away from thy faith (Deuteronomy 13:5):

► And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God...

It does not stop here, of course. Just like in Talibanland, those who who make blasphemous statements against God ought to be put to death too (Leviticus 24:16):

► And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.

And, as every good Christian should know (are you a good Christian, Eddy?), you cannot work on the sabbath day, for you would surely be put to death (yes, even for working on Sunday!) (Exodus 31:15):

► Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

I could go on and on. My point is Eddy, please, for God's sake, DO NOT QUOTE from the Bible or Qur'an or what not out of context. Please look at contemporary reality for what it is! I think people like Eddy ought to be warned. Otherwise, the next thing I know, the likes of Eddy and other Malaysian "Christians" would be supporting UMNO's ignorant attempts to out-Taliban PAS, and supporting them by quoting from the Bible, which could be easily done, mind you, considering that both faiths share the same roots.

Dear anon whoever you are, this post by Bro HL is about gays in Australia, so pray tell where have I been out of context when I quoted from the bible:

Lev 20:13 "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death."

My point is anon, I think you are way of tangent and out of context to Bro HL post with your taliban? Lina Joy? blasphemy? sabbath?UMNO?

Anon wouldn't it be much simpler for you to just say that you agree with gay and gay marriages and support the Aussie pair and you do not like it when somebody quote from the bible that homosexual practitioners shall be put to death. There you are, feel better now?
