Is PAS Running Out Of Political Capital?

FMT ALERT KUALA LUMPUR: PAS' protest against Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak's wife Rosmah Mansor took place in several states, except Kuala Lumpur, where it was called off at the eleventh hour.

This morning, a statement by Federal Territory PAS Youth information chief Fadhil Osman had given the impression that the nationwide protest was scrapped.

However, the protest took place after Friday prayers in Seremban, Malacca and Terengganu. The protest here was supposed to be held outside the Kampung Baru mosque.

Fadhil had said that PAS would use "another approach" to express its dissatisfaction against the premier's wife.

According to him, a meeting would be arranged with the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and a memorandum would be submitted to the King soon.

The self-proclaimed First Lady of Malaysia had come under fire for promoting the recently held Islamic Fashion Festival (IFF), which Muslim groups said was an insult to Islam and the Prophet Muhammad.

The event also drew flak from social-networking site Facebook users, where the photo of one of the models wearing a revealing outfit which depicted a reverse image of the Prophet's name in Arabic across the chest was widely circulated.

That unislamic fashion show is not a 'small thing' unless u see religion the way Mahafiraun sees it.o

U know who Mahafiraun is?

If i looked at the video, I don't think much of PAS position. the fashion show is nothing compared to those revealing dresses that our lady artists wear during their glamorous awards nights. As usual, PAS wants to make nothing out of such petty issue. No wonder they see only the ills of others but not theirs. It is indeed heavy to shoulder Islam's image on the party's shoulders, as heavy as the weight of a mountain and I don't think PAS is on route.

HL - isn't an islamic fashion show a contradiction of sorts?

the reason for muslim women to cover and dress modestly is so that men are not tempted -

or are there other reasons that i am not aware of?

it is hard to understand this need to cover and wear loose clothes and a fashion show showing clothes which have the objective of making women sexy and attractive.

Explain please

Bro HL,

As a non-muslim I think I can give a fairly impartial view.
To me I think it was in pretty poor taste that the dress had Prophet Muhammad's S.A.W. name on it (just as I would not like to see Jesus' name an a dress at a fashion show).
PAS being an Ismalic Political Party would not be able to keep its mouth shut.
Frankly, I was surprised that they did not make a bigger fuss about this one (I guess it shows how much PAS has advanced as compared to the UMNO-Putras, who are still shouting the same old crap {more than 50 years & they still say the same stuff] at their Annual GM's).
At least PAS did not threaten "crsuhed bodies" or "lost lives" (talk about small minds!)!

SM,

Mohammad is a common name among Muslims. Just because it was written in Arabic not necessarily it reflects the Prophet's name, it could be the name of anyone.

We have many Mohammads in my family.Would it be wrong if I put my name on a T-shirt?

You might not know even Allah in Islam has 99 names of which most Muslims took their names from.

Don't be fooled.PAS is only playing politics not safeguarding Islam.

bro HL,

Yes, I concede your point. However, I think we both can agree that the Muhammad written on the dress was not that of the 1 million & 1 Muhammads that have that name but it was "hinting" at "Phrophet Muhammad S.A.W." If I'm wrong I apologize but if I'm right then PAS has an obligation to make noise.
