The Nation's Best Birthday Gift.

Hantu Laut

Doing the unexpected.

Najib's best gift to the people and the end of a sordid legacy. The oppositions were stunned, numb and lost for words.
They got what they have been asking for, yet there were deafening silence on the opposition's front.

Completely caught by surprise they have yet to find their voices of
uncomfortable gratitude.

Malaysians can now rest comfortably knowing they would not be deprived of the justice system.

Read what the Malaysian Insider's CEO/Editor deduces here.
"It's the economy, YOU IDIOT !" he says, drowning in his own muddled intelligence. Some people are just too smart for their own good.

Najib's detractors are now busy digging into their lexicons to find the right words to ridicule him.

Happy hunting, you badasses !

Whats the good news? what new laws are going to replace ISA and the like? Until then, hold the champagne.

I would hold my celebration until the new law to replace the present one is revealed. It could be worse than what it replaces. I couldn't help noticing the sinister smile on his cousin Din's face whenever the TV camera zoomed up on him.

Bro HL,

I think the Opposition knew what Najib was going to announce before he did it.
Blogs left & right were talking about it alreday a day or two before the announcement.
I think the Opposition should come out & Congratulate Najib. After all, as you said, the Opposition were the ones who pushed for this.
Really does not matter though as Najib has just shown how desperate the situation is. The day before his announcement his Cousin (the keeper of the Duchy as you so rightly put it) said that there was not going to be any abolition of the ISA!
Mahatir has alreday smelled blood & he's going after Najib now.
Pretty sad as Muhyiddin (& Mukhriz) will soon be running the show! God help us!

In the year 2011, when Malaysia claims to be aiming for Developed Country status, the government insisted on wielding an archaic law locking up people on its say-so, without the right to answer charges in a court. I've always considered it an injustice, especially since the Communist terrorists are long gone. So the repeal of the ISA is certainly something I look forward to.

I'm wondering about the sanity of the Government's supporters though. Up to yesterday, most of them stil parroted the official Government line that the ISA is vital to safeguard Malaysia's safety and security. Najib made this announcement, and suddenly, golly....this is the Nations Best Birthday Gift. Huhh ?? ?

There were a very few BN leaders who had in the past stated the the ISA is no longer appropriate and should be repealed. Those are the only ones I can respect this morning. The rest of those praising Najib today are all Kaki Bodek

I thought I read somewhere that Lim Guan Eng said it was an epoch decision. That if it is true is high praise for a very brave decision. Thanks PM for being brave.

Let us wait and see what laws will replace it or will the Emergency Order used on Dr Michael of PSM be used more now?

Happy Malaysia Day - Let this day and our nation be blessed!

kittykat46 raises a good point about politicians. They have no backbone and this applies to both sides of the divide sometimes

Even Utusan has changed its defence of the ISA and nows says it is time for change.

This is a great example of the Mainstream Media being bossed around by political agenda.

Last week, it was the ISA is good for the country. This week, after announcement by PM, its time for change.
