Harris:RM430m Bum-Bum Bridge A Waste

Former Sabah Chief Minister has taken to task the Federal government decision to build a bridge linking the mainland with Bum-Bum Island in Semporna initiated during the tenure of former Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi.
Harris is indeed right, the unlikelihood of any potential economic growth of the area would make the bridge a white elephant.Story here andhere.

And some smart ass compared the proposed Bum-Bum bridge to that of Penang bridge! Obviously the pathetic guy did not know what he was talking about.... comparing apples to oranges.
By the way there is already a very large white elephant right in the centre of Bum-Bum island.. A very big and underutilised health clinic with all sorts of problems! What a waste of public fund and now they want to add another elephant!
If the federal government liken the idea of building a bridge in Sabah, perhaps they should consider of building a bridge linking Labuan to the Sabah mainland (via Menumbok).

W/pun pembinaan jambatan di Gum-Gum ada juga kebaikan namun pertimbangkjan dulu hal ini sebelum dilaksanakan supaya kita tak perlu membuat pembaziran yang tak disengajakan.
Funny for Harris to give such statement. It very unexpected to have him saying that Bum-Bum bridge is a waste because when you think about it , what he did in 1984 was such a waste too. He surrendered Labuan to the federal government without consultation of the people of the state or the island.

Jambatan Pulau Bum Bum ini tidak diperlukan, ia hanya membaziarkan duit sahaja kerana tidak membawa apapa manfaat kepada ekonomi Sabah.
This motion of building a bridge from Pulau Bum Bum is a waste of tax payers' money.
Sabah as a whole will not get any benefits if the Bum-Bum bridge is build other than as the article has pointed out serves only as a WHITE ELEPHANT.
There are more areas of immediate concern that needs our attention.
This includes Education, upgrading roads, developing rural infrastructure, the on going battle to reduce poverty within our state, just to name a few.

The government ought to revise on their decision to build the bridge.
lebih baik bina jambatan menghubungkan Labuan dan Sabah, Labuan jauh lebih berpotensi untuk jambatan tersebut.
Upgrade the jetty & setting up a ferry service is more suitable than spending RM430m to build a bridge to an unknown island.
Tidak sokong pembinaan jambatan BUM-BUM..Bagus lagi guna peruntukkan tersebut ditempat yang lebih baik.
sebelum memberikan peruntukkan untuk pembinaan jambatan Bum2, baik guna dahulu peruntukkan itu untuk membina jambatan ke Labuan..
penduduk Labuan jauh lebih ramai dan aktiviti ekonomi Labuan jauh lebih sibuk berbanding dengan Pulau Bum2..
