Paradox Of Choice:Intellectualising Communism,Socialism & Capitalism

Hantu Laut

Is communism making a comeback? I doubted.

Living in a country like Malaysia anyone who wanted to be communist should be treated as a patient and should be sent to the mental hospital for observation.

With the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the end of the Cold War, communism, more or less, is on its last breath.

China, for all intents and purposes, is only communist in name, has become the second biggest capitalist and the fastest growing economy in the world.

The only remaining totalitarian communist is North Korea, which will not survive for long.I foresee a reunification of the two Koreas in the next decade.

Six PSM members including Sungei Siput MP Dr Michael Jeyakumar related to the Bersih rally were arrested under the EO (Emergency Ordinance) for using and distributing inflammatory materials such as T-shirts placarded with pictures of past Malaysian communist leaders.

The government took a strong view that they are trying to revive communism. After over 30 days incarceration they were released without conditions.

The police had a change of heart or I would rather say "flip-flopping" on the issue, decided to charge them for possession of subversive materials.

The question I would like to ask here are those people seriously influenced by communist ideology or they are just a bunch of shit-stirrers, in which case they should be charged for public nuisance or something to that extant.

We certainly are spoilt for choice, but as far as communism is concerned we should not have paradox of choice.

Video:Borneo's Palm-Oil Dilemma

Hantu Laut

Sabah has the same very disturbing ecological problems.

A study by the Department of Environment found that twenty-nine oil palm mills on Sabah's Kinabatangan River were dumping pollution into the river. The river ecosystem is home to orangutans, Bornean pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, the storm's stork, and many other species. Fifty years ago the Kinabatangan River was clear. Today, after decades of clear-cut logging and then the palm oil industry, it is coffee-colored.

The entire industry showed no social responsibility maximising profits with dire consequence to the environment.

Since the industry are not willing to self-regulate it's about time the state government legislate laws to compel the industry to comply with environmental regulations and stop giving out land for palm oil cultivation.

One Brown Man's Hero, Another Brown Man's House Fly

Hantu Laut

Helping the man who badly wanted to be the prime minister of Malaysia, ex US Ambassador John Malott has declared war on Najib and the Malaysian government with his incessant attacks.

His scatching attacks on Najib and vitriolic criticism of the Malaysian government is to help divert Anwar's woes and declining popularity.Read Rocky Bru's "Some Brown Man's Hero"

His metamorphosis from a disgusting maggot into the detestable house fly swirling in the whirlpool of miasma.

Buzz off! Mr Malott!

Let Anwar fights his own war.

Confessions of a Sexaholic

What if Italy's Silvio Berlusconi asked America's most famous sex columnist for help...

I have a problem. I like to think of myself as a pretty powerful guy: Let's just say that, in my current gig, I have at my disposal the seventh largest GDP in the world. And it wasn't just handed to me: I worked my ass off for it. Built my own media company from the ground up, and charmed and networked and elbowed my way to the top of my field. Along the way, I've been known to indulge occasionally -- OK, often -- in my fondness for extracurricular women, the younger the better. (Still in high school? Don't mind if I do.)

The peccadilloes in my work and social lives always fit hand in glove: borrow a little money from the business account to woo a pretty young thing (ladies don't pay for themselves, you know?); then bring her into the office to win the admiration and respect of my colleagues and clients.

But I'm starting to lose my magic. It started when my wife left me a year ago. She didn't go quietly -- it was public and messy. Then the Feds started auditing my business after years of looking the other way. (Morale at the office is low -- I was nearly fired a few weeks back.) And to top it off, the women I've been with are either trying to extort me for even more money than I've already given them, or they're gabbing to the cops about our pay-for-play arrangements.

So here's my question: Why can't I get away with it anymore? I remember what they told us in Catholic school about sins of the flesh, and I'm starting to think they were right -- that my years of risky romantic escapades are catching up with me. Judging from all my other powerful friends, you don't have to be a saint to be successful in this world, but maybe it's just a matter of time.

Or maybe it's just the fact that I'm getting up there in years? (Though I doubt that: With the procedures I've had, you wouldn't guess I'm 74, trust me. And I've still got my natural charm -- hey, back in the day I was a singer on a cruise ship.)

Well, at least I'm not gay, right?
