Hantu Laut

Rarely, we woke up with..............aah...aah... a colonial hangover.

Some do.

Razaleigh's Can Of Worms

Hantu Laut

Tengku Razaleigh has, unintentionally, opened a can of worms during his visit to Sabah.Politicians and bloggers bankrupted of more important issues took the opportunity to wake up the deaths.

Families of the deceased persons were not happy and have expressed their wishes to be left alone and asked that the case be put to rest and not raised again.

There are some people who think otherwise, for their own political agenda.

Relating his story on the oil issue and events leading to the 'Double Six' tragedy has invited subsequent unwanted dig from the past. The politicising of the air-crash tragedy on 6 June 1976 in Sabah by irresponsible politicians and bloggers out to make an issue out of something they haven't got a clue about.

New names that implicates past leaders and new eye witness account (reliable according to the writer) that have not been heard of before have been mentioned in a blog that carry a story of conspiracy and assassination.

Former Chief Minister Harris Salleh relationship with a man named Lee Kang Yu whom the writer inferred as the likely culprit that caused the tragedy was also mentioned by the writer.

How Harris and the family of the late Lee Kang Yu are going to take this new revelation I am not sure.

Harris has been known to take no nonsense against anyone slandering him.

PKR's Smoldering Myeloma

Hantu Laut

Another Pakatan's state lawmaker jumped ship and Khalid Ibrahim says it is part of the cleansing process that all young party like PKR has to go through. He quoted DAP and PAS as mentors who told him so.Obviously, Khalid is quite happy to console himself that what eventually be left in PKR would be cream of the crop.

Tan Wei Shu, a Kedah state assemblyman ditched the party yesterday and the party says it is no big deal, he is expected to leave after being dropped as executive councillor for non-performance.

Is this self-consolation a reflection of the state of self-denial of PKR leaders.Refusal to accept the fact that there is something very wrong in the party and its leadership.

Tan was not the first.Half a dozen or more state and federal lawmakers have left the party. It is like rats deserting a sinking ship.

People will only leave a company, an organisation or abandon a ship because they know it is going under.Bad leadership is another reason why people ditched an organisation.

Anwar Ibrahim, in his haste to field a Malay candidate for Hulu
Selangor may have overlooked the making of a contender to his leadership.

The selection of Zaid Ibrahim as candidate for the Hulu Selangor by-election and his winning the seat would have ramification for Anwar Ibrahim future leadership.

Both Ibrahims are politically ambitious but Anwar has the edge being the foxier of the two. However, that doesn't mean Zaid wouldn't, one day, challenge his leadership.Having a parliamentary seat is a bonus and an added strength for him to mount a challenge in the near future.

On the other hand, Anwar being shrewder of the two, probably, has taken a calculated risk that Zaid would have hard time winning the Hulu Selangor contest and if he loses that would put to an end to any possible challenge to his leadership in PKR.

Can Zaid win the Hulu Selangor by-election?

A good probability if the Malays buy his story here. If?.

Hulu Selangor:Would Najib Be A Toothless Tiger?

Hantu Laut

With the recent disturbing development in MIC threatening to boycott the by-election and withdrawal of the party from the BN, Najib should not be in a dilemma and must not show weakness in leadership by submitting to threat.

He should stand up to Samy Vellu, either he accepts his choice of another Indian candidate or he is going to drop the MIC and put a Malay candidate.

The MIC claimed that it was due to UMNO's arrogance that they did badly in the March 2008 General Elections and threatened to close down the branches in Hulu Selangor. If that is not enough, they have now resorted to blackmailing by threatening to sack Mugilan, accusing him of stealing the candidacy. Samy wants to show Najib who is boss, a challenge Najib should not left unchallenged.

Samy and his hoodlums wanted Palanival to serve their own interests.

The Indian community have, rightfully, rejected them in the last elections due to their failure to look after the interests and welfare of the community. While Samy and his cronies become richer and richer, poorer Indians have been reduced to becoming gangsters and violent criminals due to neglect by Samy and MIC.

With assistance from the government MIC set up its investment arm, Maika Holdings to increase Malaysian Indian equity in the capital market and the economy. Samy chose who to lead the corporation? His own son Vell Paaria. Maika Holdings is in serious financial trouble and couldn't pay back 66,400 Indians who invested in the company. The company have not declared any dividend to its shareholders.

In January this year Samy approached Najib for his help to sell the only profitable company in the stable, Oriental Capital Assurance Bhd to a GLC, to enable Maika to repay those poor Indians who invested in the company.Najib gave the consent and asked MIC to find a suitor among the GLCs.Typical of the Indians in MIC, they can't see or walk in a straight line, the decision to sell was stopped by a court injunction obtained by none other than Samy's estranged deputy S.Subramaniam who controlled Koperasi Pelbagai Bhd, a shareholder in Oriental Capital Assurance Bhd.

Enough is enough, UMNO has been more than benevolent by giving away a Malay dominated constituency to the ungrateful MIC.

Maybe, it's time Najib shows Samy and MIC the door should they persist with their threat and unreasonable demand.

He wouldn't want to be called a toothless tiger.
