HINDRAF: A FOOL'S ERRAND

HANTU LAUT
I wonder how many Malaysians would agree with this kind of disquieting behaviour that have given death knell to the peace, harmony and cultural pluralism of this country. The work of a few desperate demagogue with selfish intent, seeking personal glory, without due care to the security of the nation. The consequence of deep fascinations for Western brand of democracy with shallow understanding of the constituent elements endemic to our type of democratic system.

India is lauded by the Western nations as the biggest democracy in the world. Do you know at every general election in the country how many people got killed or murdered? Philippines, another great democracy, suffered the same faith in every general election. The West love them because they are enviable models of freedom.

If you have been to some of the great cities in India you would have noticed the economic deprivation of the poor and the downtrodden. The apathy, deprivation and lack of humanity are visible in many places that makes your heart want to bleed for them. If they have no varnas, chances are, they would be condemned to the slumps and lowest rung of society---- destitute, helpless and hopeless. They are the untouchables, the Harijans or the Dalits.

That was India, where caste system, although officially banned, is in actuality still practised within the society. In Malaysia, there is no caste system and Indian Tamils are not bounden by such tradition. They are free to do what every other Malaysians are allowed to do.Some have come out and become successful individuals but many have not evolved and still live in the eggshell. Should they feel stigmatised for the what happened 150 years ago? Are the forefathers, the British and the Malaysian government to be blamed for the sorry state they are in now?

The Jaffnese or Sri Lankan Tamils don't seem to have the same problem as the Indian Tamils.Former Singapore Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew once said "In term of numbers, the Ceylonese, like the Eurasians, are among the smallest of our various communities.Yet in term of achievements and contributions to the growth of modern Singapore and Malaysia they have done more than warranted by their numbers. They have asked for no special favour or consideration as a minority"

Many Jaffnese Tamils had become successful professionals and individuals. Some of the prominence are, the world's first Asian surgeon, Dr S.S.Thiruchelvem, Singapore's Foreign minister, S.Rajaratnam and in Malaysia the famous billionaire, Ananda Krishnan.

Why are the Indian Tamils left far behind ?. Much of the problems are self inflicted.Firstly, they refused to evolve and had become politically dependent on promises made by their political leaders. They have useless and selfish leaders whose only interests are their own. The fools that organised the street rally are racists and think the government owe them a living.

Least we forget, most early Chinese who came to this part of the world, came as coolies.

Did they complain?

Hantu Laut,
This demonstration by Hindraf is definitely a mistake and can be used by the present government to rally the Malays to close rank behind them and thus close any possiblity of reforms. Freedom in its entirety can be as damaging. Some amount of restrain must be observed. Hindraf has chosen the worst time to present their case as the issue was not really to present the memo to The Queen but more to show the power that the Indian community could muster. Now things will easily turn racial since the Indians seems to be acting on their own.

Zawi,
You are right. That's why I am against bringing racial issues to the streets. The organisers are insincere and walking on dangerous ground.Go to Rocky Bru's blog, if you haven't yet, he has a copy of the letter from Hindraf to Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister of Britain. The content of the letter is most shocking and I would say, worse than sedition. The man is extremely dangerous.

We should only support issues against the government where all Malaysians, irrespective of race, colour and creed, stand on common ground.

so have you benefited from nep?

anonymous,
No.I don't understand the question and how it is related to the subject at hand. You may want to elobrate.

H-L,

In various comments in friends' blogs, particularly the non-Indian friends that chose to walk with Hindraf, I gave my unreserved support. But after reading what was in Rocky's I think it's making a mockery of the the non-Indian participants. I didn't realize that overt racist overtones and the potentially seditious statements in that letter. So now I'm not so sure.

I beg to differ, H-L, in your sweeping statement, "In Malaysia, there is no caste system and Indian Tamils are not bounden by such tradition". Actually I have plenty of Tamil friends, and I have even become a witness to a civil marriage ceremony of a dear colleague at JPN's office. The truth is, the caste system is still around. His wife, of a higher caste, once told me that her late father was angry because her UM classmates came unannounced during Deepavali. He was angry because included in the group were boys of the lower caste. Look at your Malayalee or Tamil friends and see who they marry into. Caste still wields a lot of power or the union would not be blessed. It happens in Malay society too with the Syeds and Sharifahs. I dare venture that over 90 percent of Syeds are pressured into marrying only Sharifahs and often their marriages are matched by families. On a personal level, H-L, this sickens me because it goes against the grain of what I believe to be decent human behavior. Sorry for the digression but in Malaysia the caste system, especially in Indian families is still alive and well.

But I agree the racist issue should never have been brought to the streets. I think the organizers are treading on very dangerous grounds here. Look, I'm all for the grouse on the wanton destruction of temples or wanting better opportunities. But after reading that letter I too think they've gone too far, Sir.

gram.kong said...

Mat Salo,
I agree with you to certain degree. What I meant was, unlike in India the Tamils here need not observe or bind themselves to that tradition, maybe, I didn't made it clear enough.Yes, the caste system do exists here and are more pronounced in the Tamil community but, I would say, are scattered and isolated in the Malay community as stated by you, confined to the Syed and Sharifah, many of them think they are direct descendents of Prophet Mohammad(SAW) and must not dilute the bloodline. The Shias have the same notion, that they are closer to the Prophet because they are direct descendents of Ali, son-in-law of the Prophet.Well, this are age-long traditions that some people wish to hanged on to.

Back to Hindraf and the letter. You probably have read it, accusing the Malaysian government of ethnic cleansing and using govt appointed militia to demolish Hindu temples, terrorise and kill Indians.Good God! where he is coming from? Where can we find a bigger liar and an educated idiot like him?

Now, I have no sympathy for the Indians who allowed themselves to be cheated by this one man,a lawyer, who is probably, suffering from serious case of psychosis.

Melayu kata 'Ini lawyer buruk' lah.

1/ I am a Malaysian Eurasian & darn proud to be one!
2/ I strongly disagree with street demonstrations.
3/ We are Malaysians & we have lived together for so long in Peace! We don't need another May 13th 1969! Most of our Malaysian youth have no idea what happened then.
4/ Why these Malaysians are going to the street? I suppose desperate people do desperate & foolish things.
5/ God willing, we will be going to the Polls soon...show your displeasure there!
6/ Look at what happened in Australia. The Aussies did not have to go to the streets to show what they felt of the Howard Government!

gram.kong said...

SM,
I am sure there are many Malaysians who think like you.I have been consistent with my stand against street demo and rally.Malaysia had been peaceful and free from civil strifes the past few decades because of the ban on demonstrations.

We are not ready for it and we should not copy what America or other Western nations are doing, our racial composition is not conducive to bringing racial issues to the streets.

They have rocked the boat.First, it was BERSIH, than HINDRAF and the latest I have heard was, more disquieting than the first two, a planned rally by PEKIDA, a Malay Islamic Movement organisation, as a counter to the Hindraf's recent demo.

If Pak Lah allows PEKIDA to proceed, than there will be trouble. He must be seen to be fair and give the same treatment to everyone, irrespective of their political beliefs.

Let's hope sensibility prevails over sentiments

Our current malay generation is racist now because they desperately want to hang on to privileges which I frankly believe it slowly causing the malay race to rot away and become a pathetic race on crutches dependent.

I think that malays are the most stupid idiots on earth - they might have big sized bodies bud in their heads, but they have puny brains.

Thus coming to the conclusion that they are the most stupid black blocks on earth - they are coloured black and stink like a garbage dump.

Does malays ever think twice about their religious? What if yours believe is not what you think!

You malays will rape anybody just for sexual pleasure. You didn't read about the malay who raped his own sister?

Not only that! They yell 5 times per day and expect to go to heaven! After committing so many sins like steal, rape, killing!

Malays are so stupid that deserve to be robbed by their own government. They in fact deserve to be raped as well. Maybe we were better off as British rule Malaysia after all.

Malays are jealous of Chinese, that is why they hate them. Americans are not jealous of Chinese, because they don't need tongkat. They buy a lot of Chinese goods. If they hate, they would have boycott the products. Bodoh!

Oh! Bodoh! Only blind man needs tongkat.

If Americans don't hate the malays, why is there so much bad press against Mahathir when he scolded the Americans? You malays are brainless and never read the newspaper. Everyday special rights here and there……….still like your tongkat so much!

You go to American Embassy and see which country now is blacklisted? Did they blacklist Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong?

Even the Japanese look down upon the malays because they are just a bunch of fool, corrupt, lazy person who feed on the Chinese income tax for their existence.

The malays want to produce as many pig babies as they want, but doesn't teach them what is honesty, hardworking, civilisation!

Anonymous said...

I am totally agree what you have said, those moron malays have no sense of 'malu'. For example, I find that most of those malay pig creature are dirty and smelly, but they still walking around proudly with that stinking and ugly look.

Another example is most of them are poor, they can't afford a big luxury car. When they saw Chinese or Indian driving a big car, they are feeling distress and jealous.

What a loser! Hey non-malays can afford a big car without depend on NEP policy. But you pathetic malay pig can't afford it even though with NEP policy help. Loser malay pig!

I am sure the one who hold anonymous is definitely Islam/malay.

Since he is complaining the other religion believes in more than one God and keep on bullshitting on the same thing for more than half of the passage.

Well - that is again proved that malay is always lack of common sense and knowledge but trying to confirm their existing……….LOL.

For the other issue which he claims that Chinese and Indian didn't do anything about malay government is like child complaining to parents. It is seriously a big joke.

Why did those malays never think? I really wondering……….

They can speak, they have their culture, they have their history, but they never think!

Now I really think that the term civilization should really reconstruct its meaning……….

Race that doesn't know how to think should not include in civilization field!

And for reply to that idiot above.

Chinese and Indians didn't do anything because we are civilization and polite races. Unlike some Islam bastards, they do violent and violent that ruins everything of everyone……….you want example?

Tell me what had Osama did, why did Saddam died?

There are a lot of examples that show malays are non-educated race, violent race and more likely to be barbarous race.

A news from Star Malaysia: A driver accidentally hit a malay villager, then after a moment the whole malay village people coming to that driver and trying to beat him, luckily that driver was smart and escape the nearest police station, guess what happen next? His vehicle is inside the river after he run away!

Is that enough for example?

Or you are just another malay that trying to make yourself thinks that is reasonable? Or you still need more to accept that malays are violent?

Whatever is your answer, we don't bother!

Because - why should a human being scold an animal? Is pointless to do so isn't it?

(Perhaps animal is better than malay, at least animals only attack to protect themselves……….malays? They attack for everything they want - nice example of Malaysia government always help malays and malays will only continue to support government for the sake of that help!)

According to a recent study through secret agency, Nihon Himitsu Oruganitsum Bureau, shows that malays were descended from the hybrid between hog/boar and baboon, hence explains why they look like baboon and they don't eat pork.

Our latest DNA analysis confirmed the fact.

The Japanese, Europeans etc, all eat pork, so does that mean they are all dirty and only the malays and Arabs are clean?

These malays have no brains to think properly.

The secret agency study also finds that Muslims are more violent, lazy, cunning and barbaric due to the lack of pork in their meal and the wrong doctrine.

They had been misled by Quran for generations which was copied and twisted by Muhammad from Holy Bible just to control his followers so that they don't harm their same species/ancestor (the hybrid between hog/boar and baboon).

We can't change it politically, you are wrong. We will.

Once this country is run by terms of equal rights, where each citizen play by the rules and regulations of total fairness, then we shall see where the malays will stand.

Right down at the bottom? Most probably, yes! Not only the non-malays will agree, the whole world would probably agree as well. In fact some malays will agree this as well.

The only thing that all of us can see, whether you are a Malaysian, or non-Malaysian, is that the malays here will never change. Not now, never will.

Your level of intelligence and pathetic sense of judgement depict not only how truthfully and incompetently low life beings you are, crawling at the lowest level of the human hierarchy, begging for alms, practically putting all your grotesque clown-butt ugly faces in front of the world, self admitting that even maggots feasting on a pile of dung, looks and sounds much much better.

You defense on your own race, will not conclude anything, but strengthen the fact that even your pure existence in this very world of civilized human beings, is worse than the thought of having an incest driven rapist over for dinner.

Ponder upon this, there is no point defending for yourselves, save it. The fact and all the truth speak louder than just stupid farts coming out from your infested mouth fueled by your retarded brain.

To be honest, how naive you are with your pointless talk, we can see it in every glory in your statement here. In fact by calling you stupid, would be the most insulting thing by being stupid. Have you ever heard of the word opposition?

Think my friend, if there is no such thing as bravery to challenge the government face to face, why would oppositions be there?

By now, your retarded brain must be struggling, thinking, hey what is the point of oppositions if they are not effective enough to fight against the government? Good question.

One word - CORRUPTION.
The rest of the picture, I will also leave it up to you.

The real cowards in Malaysia are the group of people who survive under bogus unfair rights, fictional promises which only rat testicles will believe they are true.

The same group of people who destroying the country with their own social menaces, incest activities, drugs, materialistic punks with brains the size of a chicken shit, etc.

The same group of people who are spoilt by unreasonable, pointless, total waste of time support from the government. Which even that, on that very constant support, they are still licking their own balls, nursing their injury, shamelessly.

And still as of yet, presently and logically categorized as the poorest class citizens who only survive by politically sucking other people's hard earned benefits.

The same group of people who idolizes external portrayal of physical goodness, but mentally and reality, are bunch of idiotic hypocrites nothing better than a rotting pair of pig testicles. Even the maggots would think twice of devouring such a distasteful crap.

I am sick and tired of saying this over and over again. I honestly believe, that every single malay individual in this country, within their very heart, and best interests, know where they stand. They know right from the start, that they can't win in a fair and equal environment.

Their fictitious pride and ego made them proud of their weakness, never ever have the guts to admit their weaker side.

And how do you think they survive? By playing dirty. And most of the time, very very dirty. To those malays who are successful, trust me, they are not pure malays. They are even embarrassed by the fact that they are malays.

Think......................

Still think and insist malays are for perpaduan? fair? got integrity and dignity?

The only way to have perpaduan is: you motherf***ker stripe your own babi status and come to term with other races on level playing field - that is what we call a step towards perpaduan!

We are all Malaysians, why not? What is your problem??????????

Now the answer to this I leave it to you to think. How you want to think it with your level of stupidity, I have truly no idea.

Hantu Laut,

After my initial comments last night & your reply, look what other comments have turned up?!
Pathetic racial rubbish & unnecessary degratory remarks.
I have always believed in the "Freedom of Speech" but to a "certain extent" & the comments that are being generated here prove me correct.
Racial slurs will only make matters worse.
I pray that most Malaysians will have the "brains" to do what is right & not sink down to this miserable pit!

This is the first time I'm actually giving my comments to blogs like these as I'm not afraid to admit that I'm not very savvy with the computer, internet & such. However, I find some of the comments here totally unacceptable, demeaning and not fit to be read. Rather than giving clear-headed comments that truly reflect their discontentment, they are using it as an outlet to vent their anger. No great changes will ever come from this kind of reaction.

One thing that I treasure is peace and unity. It is very obvious that this demonstration was organised solely to fulfill the selfish agenda of a few individuals. It is also very easy to fuel the anger of those who feel that they have been sidelined by the govt especially if they are stuck in a vicious cycle of poverty. If this lawyer is truly sincere about the plight of the Indians, he should do something more tangible to get them out from the cycle and not resort to this kind of lawlessness. He is only dragging them into the mire along with himself.

As migration becomes more common in todays world, every country will have their own set of racial problems. Even Australia, America & Canada has them except that they are not publicized to the whole world. Poverty is also something that cannot be eradicated totally. Even the bible says that "the poor you will always have". Some of the poorest people are found in India and China. Therefore, it is pointless to talk about how other countries do it or drag them into it.

Malaysia's multi-ethnicity and many races is her strength. The govt needs wisdom on how to harness the strength of each individual race instead of focusing on the Malay's weaknesses. Our prime minister cannot do this alone. He needs a good team to stand beside him.
As to all those people who are easily swayed by emotions and circumstances, learn to think for yourself and do not let yourself be used by another for their own selfish reasons. You are doing yourself a great disservice. Name callings just reveals that you are at the same level as those that you revile.

BTW, I'm chinese and not rich (for those who think it is important)

I am not going to engage in this most unpleasant racial slur and language fits for the gutter and bring myself to that level.

For those who think freedom of speech give them the right to use profanities and cast racial slurs on others in the worst possible way, they forgot, their pathetic behaviour and charachter are reflections of their bad upbringing.

I can guess where those comments came from.If you need to comment, debate, dissect or attack my article, you are welcome to do so ,but, please, use acceptable language .Is it too difficult to express yourselves without resorting to obcenities and languages so unbecoming, that even your parents would be ashamed to have you all as their children.

If you can't engage in sensible and intelligence conversation, please do not come to this blog.

I am going to keep those nasty comments for a while and see what others have to say.

SM and anonymous,
I hope there are more sensible people like the two of you and my earlier guests, Zawi and Mat Salo.

That's why I worry about allowing Malaysians on the streets to express their dissatisfactions, most are sensible, but you get small number of racists who are bent on making trouble.

I doubt that our country will be better governed should it falls into the hands of some of the above racist commentators. We could even be worse off. It saddens me to be siding on their side to change the present government when it will only lead to greater anarchy in the name of change. So why bother to change?
HL, MS, SM, Anonnymous of 7:28, I am disillusioned by all this idealism that I thought we are all fighting for.

For all intents and purposes the Hindraf rally was in essence a challenge to UMNO. Whether the demonstration by Hindraf is a mistake or not is debatable. If by mistake one means that many Malaysians were unhappy with the demonstration then a mistake it may well be. On the other hand Hindraf's challenge to UMNO has proven that UMNO and their BN cronies in general are now so well off relative to the common Malaysian that they allowed Hindraf to get away with the challenge.

40 years ago such a challenge to UMNO will have brought about racial riots. Today, UMNO more than anyone else are afraid of what political instability can do to their economic well-being. They know that any attack on the non-Malays will only lead to capital flight from Malaysia like what happened to Indonesia in 1998. In such a situation UMNO will lose more than anyone else in Malaysia. The taxes paid by Malaysians which supports the NEP and which in turn supports Ketuanan UMNO will just simply evaporate.

Arresting the Hindraf 5 was the most UMNO could do to save face. Hindraf opened the eyes of the Indians, Chinese and even the Malays to vote for the opposition when they showed that UMNO can be challenged without the fear of racial riots. The March 8 Tsunami has proven Hindraf correct in challenging UMNO. For their sacrifices in opening the eyes of all Malaysians, I say Hindraf have gone where no Malaysian have gone before in our political frontier.
