Discretion Is The Better Part Of Valour

Hantu Laut

It is unimaginable that a person of his stature and political standing could utter such racist sentiment.I wouldn't call it arrogance but would see it more as a serious flaw in character and a siege mentality, result of acute sense of inferiority complex. This is the type that have brought UMNO into public contempt and would sooner be on its death knell if the party does not get rid of such obnoxious dead woods. The party had become insalubrious. It's in serious need of cleaning up.

The insobriety for positions and status have gotten to most disgraceful level with some members resorting to violence against rivals to try eliminate them from contesting. This culture of violence if left unchecked could destroy the peace and harmony in this country which have gotten worse since Pak Lah took over the helm.

A single shot to the head was what the Bagan Serai UMNO division vice-chairman got, undisputed sign of contract killing. The party was quick to say it was business rivalry and not politics the likely reason, even before police investigation had started.A day later a vicious acid attack was inflicted on a branch head in Kelantan.

The windfall one gets of becoming a branch head and an even bigger windfall still if one gets to be a division head are just too tempting for those who cater to the power of easy life and easy money.

Money, not popularity, is now the indispensable tool to get elected. That's why the party is scrapping bottom of the barrel and get people like Bukit Bendera Umno division head Datuk Ahmad Ismail and the likes of him in powerful position in the party, where even the President would think twice to upset them.

The Chinese are immigrants and, therefore, can't have equal rights as the Malays says Ahmad Ismail. He may not be aware or just too thick in the head to know that without the Chinese contributions as the economic engines of this country he wouldn't have the luxury of living in this economically advanced, peaceful and modern society.

The Chinese, the Indians, the Malays and the Others (only Malaysia has this) have equal rights to this country, to call themselves Malaysians, and any other reference should be considered seditious.

It is not for the Prime Minister or Deputy Prime Minister to apologise. Ahmad Ismail should be made to apologise, failing which, he should be given a show cause letter was he should not be suspended from the party.

"Discretion is the better part of valour" is certainly not in the UMNO's dictionary.

Politics in Malaysia is getting dangerous nowadays. Nobody has any qualms at all to hurt or even kill one another. All the more so when you have an ineffective Prime Minister and a corrupt police force. Maybe it is time for the army to take over and bring back some semblance of sanity to this country.

Racial unity is the word... How can a politic say something that will cause "rusuhan kaum". Resign is the word for him... He needs to go back to primary one and learn some common sense and read Sejarah Text-Book (For Secondary Level) because those that forget the past are condemned to repeat it. Never touch sensitive issue.

hey, he just came out and say no way jose, i aint gonna apologise coz i did nothing wrong. mind you, i am sure he has lots of supporters within UMNO on this else how can you explain him going against the DPM. I dread the day when this sort of Ahmads, who are the minority now become the majority. and this can only happen if the silent majority allows such behaviour to fester.

I applaud your stand and your statement that this is the kind of thing for which the Sedition Act should be used; not against RPK and other bloggers who are not racists.

this guy is so arogant. today's news he even goes to says why should he apologize! I suspect he may have the backing for him to make such bold statement. BN's rasist politics has to go! we need MP who are educated and think before they open their mouth not no good MP like the guy.(his name is not even worth mentioning)

Hi,Zawi,
Nice to hear from you again.I agree the political culture is changing,if we are not careful we will become like the Philippines soon.

Ours still manageable, not that bad yet,but must not be allowed to get out of hand.

What happened in Permatang Pauh is not typical in other places in the country.

From the video I have seen the police did show extreme patience in Permatang Pauh.

anonymous,
Some people are just incorrigible.Nothing you do will change them. The best would be to get rid of this kind of bigot.

donplaypuks,
Racism should have no place in this country, it belong to all of us.

HL,

Although I feel that this guy should be locked up & the key thrown away, I think we fail to see the "real" issue here.
He's just "defending" what UMNO leaders have been saying all along!
How many times have we heard UMNO leaders calling the Non-Malays "pendatang"? They forget that the Indonesians who came here a few Generations ago are also "pendatang", however, their children are considered as Malays or at the least Bumis!
Why do you think the Police & the UMNO Leadership is being so "soft" with him? Because he can turn around & give numerouse examples of his "bosses" who have said the same thing. If they were not reprimanded, why should he?!
Screwed up isn't it? Why? Because of UMNO (again I say, MIC, MCA ^ Gerakan are a waste of time...just stupid lap dogs!).
So, UMNO is surprised that most Non-Malays (& a fair amount of Malays too) have stopped supporting the BN?!
