A Federal Disease ?

Hantu Laut

It's unbelievable, it's so prevalent, it's almost like a disease, an epidemic of sort.

Over the past few years there had been a spate of defective buildings, sub-standard construction works and exorbitant costs overrun of many federal-funded projects.

Less than two weeks ago the roof of a stadium in Trengganu collapsed which fortunately didn't happen at a time when the stadium is hosting an event or there would have been many fatalities.

Today, it was reported that the three-year old Federal Administration Complex in KotaKinabalu sprung a leak from burst water pipe that damage computers, files and other equipment on the seven floor of the MACC (Malaysia Anti Corruption Commission) office.Less than a year ago cracks were found in most of the walls in all three blocks with big chunk of tiles falling to the ground.

The biggest bungle and probably a huge rip-off is the PKFZ (Port Klang Free Zone) project with cost overrun running to a mind-boggling amount of over RM12 billion.Even if you made the most stupid mistake it's not likely to be that stupendously expensive.Looking at the rogues gallery it appears to be one big MCA family involved in the project.

These are taxpayers money which rightly should be spent to benefit the people.

Najib needs to put his house in order if he wants to win the next general elections.

I agree with you HL. This disease must stop. But how?

First, make things transparent. Procurement process, tendering processes, award process etc etc. Then inform everyone, why they lost their bid.

When there is problem, all investigations are open, transparent and done with integrity and professionalism.

In 3 and 1/2 years BN will face the 13th general elections. Time is not on our side, therefore it is imperative every step of reform must be done NOW.

On the PKFZ , I think your views is way out .

I agree with chaptokam. Wonder why HL is always bias on non-Malays here.

Firstly, the calculations of 12B is based on projected cashflow. Not actual. If they are not able to meet the occupancy and business target, the figure may be more.

Then, 'someone' is puppeteering the MCA, and UMNO goons to follow. Don;t just assign blame to MCA. Look at the land acquisition, look at the way construction contract was made. It is not as simple as what HL made it out to be....

Bottomline, I agree with HL that transparency ought to be made on all affairs involving the public's funds.

Port Klang Authority is directly controlled by the Ministry of Transport whose Ministers before Ong were Kong Choy and Liong Sik. I agree with HL it is an MCA mess and I think it should be cleaned by the MCA.

The Ministers especially Liong Sik and Kong Choy got the Port Klang Authority involved in the PKFZ WITH THEIR EYES WIDE O P E N, it has got nothing to do with being a Malay or non Malay, if you make a mess the honourable thing is to bite the bullet and clean the mess up not try to divert attention to other third parties.TQ.

Najib is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Its a global disease, Malaysia is only a tiny dot but a good punching bag.

Dear YB,
Najib has to act quickly to repair the damage done over the years and he may be running out of time.

Pakatan is not a good alternative but they may get voted in, unless PAS leave the coalition, which is quite likely.
