An Email From Raja Petra

Hantu Laut

I am all for a royal commission to investigate the death of Teo Beng Hock and I hope the Prime Minister would allow it for the good of the nation and for his own good.

In my article " DAP Leaders Playing With Fire" some of my commentators misconstrued that I am defending the MACC, I am not. What I am trying to convey is, DAP leaders should not act in haste that can lead to an ugly situation, let there be thorough investigation first before we start pointing fingers at anyone.

This is a tragedy that should not be left unanswered and a royal commission would be most befitting and fair to the deceased family and also to the government.

Criminal action by the police or MACC should not be construed as one condone by the Prime Minister and the government. Therefore, it is in Najib's interest that he gets to the bottom of this tragedy. If there were foul play than those involved must be punished according to the law.

In a kind of response to my article, I received an email from Raja Petra himself showing concern about the tragic incident and at the same time remind me of the article he wrote some time ago about the MACC which many people, I assume, including me, did not take seriously at that time.

I post Raja Petra's article below. He has also posted the article in his Malaysia Today.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
by Raja Petra Kamarudin

READ ARTICLE ONLINE

The writing was already on the wall very much earlier. Alarm bells were wailing like banshees. But this was largely ignored. It was ignored because it was Malaysia Today that had triggered the alarm bells. Malaysia Today is not the most reliable source. It does not offer the best of information. What Malaysia Today dabbles in are rumours and innuendoes.

When the Anti-Corruption Agency, now called the MACC, kidnapped the family of a police inspector, Malaysia Today raised the alarm. They had kidnapped the wife and child of a police inspector who had investigated a Chinese underworld boss on the instructions of a higher-up with the rank of ASP.

The inspector was just doing what his boss had ordered him to do, and that was to open a file and launch an investigation into the activities of the Chinese prostitution, loan shark, drugs and gambling syndicate. And this resulted in the detention of three syndicate bosses.
What the MACC wanted the police inspector to do was quite simple. They wanted him to change his report so that the three underworld bosses can be freed from detention.

And he would have to do that if he wants to secure the release of his family.

The police inspector refused to do that. Instead, he made a police report. And so did his wife. But nothing was done about the matter. The MACC officers were not arrested and dragged to court on kidnapping charges.

The MACC then leaked information to the media that they are investigating a very senior police officer, the Director of the CCD, for the crime of not declaring RM27 million worth of assets. The fact that MACC investigations come under the Official Secrets Act was not a hindrance. After all, the OSA is only used against opposition supporters and not against those who serve those who walk in the corridors of power.

Nevertheless, the Director of the CCD was finally not charged for not declaring RM27 million in assets. He was charged for using police property for his personal reasons, something that all government officers, ministers and politicians do blatantly every day of the week. But his real crime is that he detained several Chinese underworld bosses who control the prostitution, loan shark, drugs and gambling business all over Malaysia.

Then they arrested the lawyer who acted for the CCD Director. The MACC officers came to his office on the eve of Hari Raya and handcuffed him after roughing him up like one would do to an armed bank robber. To ensure that the lawyer suffered the greatest embarrassment this Hollywood-style arrest was done in full view of the entire office.

Malaysia Today wrote about all this. Malaysia Today not only wrote about all this but Malaysia Today repeated the stories again and again to make sure no one would say they somehow missed the story. But still nothing was done. No one denied the story. More importantly, no one did anything about what Malaysia Today revealed.

The MACC has been a tool of those who walk in the corridors of power for a long, long time. Officially, Barisan Nasional has 14 component members with Umno as the lead partner. Unofficially, Barisan Nasional has seventeen component members. The Election Commission is the fifteenth component member of Barisan Nasional, the Malaysian police the sixteenth, and the MACC the seventeenth. They all serve the interests of Umno and the Prime Minister.

“Where is the smoking gun?” they ask. “Show me the body!” they demand. No gun, no body, then no crime has been committed.

Well, today, there is a body. It is the body of a most unfortunate Chinese opposition member who was arrested and tortured by the MACC officers. Yes, he was tortured. And he was tortured because the MACC wanted him to talk.

But he could not talk. He could not talk because there was nothing to talk about. The MACC wanted him to finger his comrades in the opposition. They wanted him to implicate his friends in the opposition for various crimes that the MACC alleges had been committed by those in the opposition.

He tried to explain that he is not being stubborn. He tried to explain that no crime had been committed. He tried to explain that he could not possibly implicate his comrades in the opposition for various crimes if these crimes are merely a figment of the MACC’s imagination.

So they continued to torture him. And he could no longer stand the torture. After all, he is not the macho type of man. He is but a gentle man who only wanted to get married this weekend. That was all that he wanted.

They threatened to kill him if he refuses to talk. With tears running down his cheeks he begged for mercy and pleaded with them not to harm him. They threatened to throw him off the top floor if he refuses to talk. Sobbing like a baby he went down on his knees and begged for his life.

They dragged him across the room and opened the window. Then something went terribly wrong. It was supposed to be just a threat. They just wanted to put fear in him. They did not really want to throw him off the top floor. They just wanted him to see what the ground floor looks like from the top floor.

The unfortunate young man panicked. He went ballistic when he saw the distance he would have to travel before hitting the ground floor. He struggled. They could not hold onto him. Gravity took over and the life of this young man was prematurely snuffed out.

The MACC then announced that they had released him the night before. They failed to announce that they had not released him from custody but released him from this world. Then they suddenly found his body the day after. He jumped. He committed suicide. He took his own life. He was never tortured. He was not dragged to the window with the threat that they would teach him how to fly.

This has been going on for far too long. The MACC acts like God. They kidnap families and torture those they arrest. They threaten those they interrogate with death if they refuse to talk.

And now one young man has really died. But no one will be punished. No one will be punished because they will say the young man took his own life. Why he took his own life no one knows. He was never tortured. He was never threatened with death. He was not made to look how far down the ground floor is. He was not accidentally dropped when he panicked and struggled and they could not get a good grip on him.

That is what they will be telling you and me later today.

All opinion expressed above belong solely to Raja Petra.

I always believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt and you are innocent until proven guilty. So is the MACC, they are innocent until proven guilty.

In this respect I would like to thank Raja Petra for his concern and would urge the government to act fairly and justly.....appoint a royal commission to clear its name and let the family of the deceased know the truth so they can be at peace knowing what actually happened.

HL,

I received the same e-mail from RPK also (must be an auto-thingy).
Anyway, I don't believe that you are covering for the MACC butI do believe you are pulling the wool over your own eyes!
How many Malaysians trust or believe the PDRM? Be truthful!
Now, ask the same question about the MACC!
Face it, as I said before, & unless I am way off the mark, there will be a verdict of "no foul play".
You & Eddy keep trying to side-step the whole issue by trying to poke at the DAP & PR. He was found dead at the MACC HQ not at the DAP HQ lah!
If the opposition doesn't make noice, do you think the BN is going to? Remember when those two MIC men went to the Mortuary at the behest of Kugan's family, they got into trouble (they had to go to the Police Station to justify their actions).
We are still waiting for Kugan's killers to face justice (don't even ask about all the other deaths, mostly Malaysian Indians who have died under police custody). Now this?
You ask everyone to wait for an inquiry by the PDRM? Hellooooo?! Again, I ask, who believes in the honesty of the PDRM? Just imagine how his Parents, Siblings & Fiancee are feeling now! Yes, wait for the Police inquiry...is that a joke or what?!

RPK's article is an attempt to spin and lay blame at MACC.

Read our hyperlinked article and ask yourself.

Will MACC go to the extent of slitting someone's wrist and tearing his pants?

RPK said it is an accident. Is it an accident?

RPK should now ask his good friend, Ronnie Liu what happen?

The question is why are these reports fall into deaf ears... now a guy is dead... no wonder conspiracy theorists are having a field day.

Another question is how on earth the MACC has so much power that they are behaving like Gods? Clearly there must be check and balance to make sure that these powers are not abused... what are the politicians doing?

1. Raja Petra? Is that the guy yang lari daripada Malaysia kerana dia benar? Same irresponsible father who allowed his 14 year old son to run away from home never to come back? Anything from Raja Petra I take with a BIG handful of salt.

2. SM, your endless ramblings and whining about the PDRM and MACC will never end. So what is your solution exactly? Sack the whole Police force and the MACC to be replaced with what? Underworld gangsters and NGOs vigilantes? So who should conduct the investigation now if not the Police? Maybe Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng who seems to have psychic powers when it comes to matters relating to the ongoing investigation of the DAP ADUNS?

3. Another thing SM, the MACC Selangor headquarters is located at the 14th floor of the 20 storey Plaza Masalam, its not like the whole building is occupied by MACC OK. What happens on the other 19 floors is not within MACC purview and if you want to indulge in speculation, the deceased(god bless his soul) could have fallen from other higher floors as well.

4. Yes I bet the Opposition would make noise in fact I would be surprised if they don't. The DAP and Pakatan will milk this tragedy to the very last drop, I hope they do not destroy the country while doing it.

5. I do not agree to a Royal Commission though, not yet anyway, let the Police investigate, let the pathologists come up with their autopsy report first before the Attorney General classify the case or recommend to set up a Royal Commission.

eddy,
Yes, a royal commission should only be carried out after police investigation and if the government and the public are not satisfied with the outcome of the investigation.

A royal commission is also another way the government can clear its name.If MACC has done wrong it doesn't mean the government and the PM is involved. It is sad people like Anwar Ibrahim who was high in the government before are sucking up to political expediency and doesn't care about security of the nation.

What they are doing is dangerous once it gets out of hand.

I put Raja Petra's article on by blog, not because I agree with him,it's to show the figment of his wild imagination.

Raja Petra would be better off being a writer of fiction. He probably can write a bestseller.

The Unspinners,

I do not for one moment think the MACC is that stupid as to shit on their own doorstep.Something has gone terribly wrong and the police should investigate those under investigation by the MACC.

Eddy,

Ramblings? Yes, what else can we do (for those of us Non-Bumis who consider Malaysia as our home & refuse to leave. To the rest, well they just migrate away!)?
At every step we are faced with "mysterious" deaths in our Police lock-ups & now at the MACC building?!
First sack the IGP & the top "brass" of the Police & then set up a Royal Commission. I guess the reason why you guys do not want to do that immediately is because this gives time to the Police & MACC to get their "stories" sorted out so that they can continue to "cover-up" their actions.
The Malaysian Public do not believe in their Police anymore lah. Face it!
If you can't rust them in small things (e.g. RM50 to bribe a Police Constable for a road summons!), how can you trust them in big things?
How many Malaysians must die before we act? Or maybe it's just another "China Man" & a few "India Men" most of the time so who cares (after all they are all Pendatang kan?)!!!!!
Let's see what the Police come up with (by the way we all know what they will come up with or am I wrong?!).

Faceless Hantu,
While making a farce of the apparent neutrality & bravado, you seem to take a liking to anyone who is remotely pro establishment, even if they are stupid and make ad hominem attacks ....

MACC won't shit at their doorstep? I've got news for you buddy - they'll even smear it all over the place boldly - why not if they have other dogs to clean it up for them? Evidence of that/scuttled investigations and persecution of innocents abound, Hantu!!

Hantu, just like you, these guys are definitely stupid - but not stupid enough to do these things without knowing that they have all the instruments of state to cover their tracks.

What goes around comes around, buddy .... God and time will be your witness.

SM,
You generalise too much.Almost every police force in the world face same problem. Death in detention or police custody is not something we should condone but it can happen anywhere.Dealing with hardened criminals is not easy and sometimes unintentional accident do happen resulting in deaths.

The police is in a dilemma, when crime rate goes up you guys screamed for the police chief to be removed and accused the police of collobrating with criminals. A few deaths in police custody become a major political issue because the oppositions politicise it not because of sincere sympathy for the victims and families but it to suit their political agenda and to gain political mileage.

Not all in the force are bad, I am sure there are still many good cops.

The opposition forever complain against almost every branch of the government, the judiciary, the AG,the police , the MACC, and the list is endless.Only they are clean, spotless, flawless and incorruptible.

I wonder how this country has progress this far if everything are rotten for the past 50 years?

I share your concern Bro, its not the Police or the MACC I am defending, they are paid to do their job the best way they can. My biggest concern like you are political leaders from DAP and PKR hijacking the tragic death of a young man to create political unrest and destabilise the nation.

A simply analysis to the probability of death narrow to three likelihood. Death due to interrogation mishap, suicide and murder.

Death due to interrogation mishap is unlikely as the last person saw Teoh at 6: 00 AM and by that time interrogation was already over.

Suicide is a medium possibility as the decease may be stressed not from MACC interrogation but more so, be condemned as a running dog that sell out his fellow colleague by the person who saw him at 6: 00 AM when they met at the panty. What transpire here is the key, they knew each other yet they did not talk is hard to buy.

Murder is a high probability as the decease knew a lot. If he chose to tell all, surely somebody will be in for a hell of a trouble. With him death, who is the beneficial? your guess is as good as mine. Clearly the main loser is MACC and the mastermind is shrewd by killing two birds with one stone, wipe out evidences and put the blame on MACC.

Again what transpire between the two at 6: 00 AM would be able to tell a lot.

That's what they said about Martin Luter King Jr, Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi & Aung Sang Su Chee.
The USA, S Africa & India would not be what they are today if not for these great men! That's why Myanmar is ensuring that Shu Chee is incarcerated. That's why UMNO wants to get DSAI in jail for sodomy (despite 2 medical reports that say otherwise)!
Vision 2020...ya rite! Not with UMNO at the helm!
