Can't Buy Me Love,Can't Buy Me Vote

Hantu Laut

Many of you, unless you are one of those hate music type, must have heard or listen to the Beatles' hit "Can't Buy Me Love"

The lyric goes:

Can't buy me love, love
Can't buy me love

I'll buy you a diamond ring my friend if it makes you feel alright
I'll get you anything my friend if it makes you feel alright
'Cause I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love

I'll give you all I got to give if you say you love me too
I may not have a lot to give but what I got I'll give to you
I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love

Can't buy me love, everybody tells me so
Can't buy me love, no no no, no

Say you don't need no diamond ring and I'll be satisfied
Tell me that you want the kind of thing that money just can't buy
I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love

The song goes:

At the Sibu by-election Prime Minister Naib told the crowd of Chinese voters "Let make a deal...you help me,I help you" and tried to entice them with "Ini bukan tipu" If you deliver me Robert Lau on Sunday, on Monday I will ask for the cheque to be prepared"

Najib goes:

What I say in my previous post before polling day:

Although, money is important to the Chinese, you can't pay a Chinese person to buy his vote. It's akin to try selling ice to the Eskimos.

Obviously, Prime Minister Najib does not understand the Chinese psyche.Chinese do not accept handouts unless they are really very poor. This buy-election may not work here.BN may still win but it is not for the lure of money or projects.

After winning Hulu Selangor Najib mistakenly stereotyped that what works in Hulu Selangor work every where.

A lesson learned.You can't buy Chinese votes.

When pressed by journalists the true meaning of the song, McCartney denied that "Can't Buy Me Love" was about prostitution.

Paul McCartney was right.
You can shower a girl with all the material things but you can't buy her love.

One thing for sure, you can buy sex.

Bro, that video of Najib offering rewards if the Sibu folks vote for BN is an embarassment that Najib will have to live with until the day he dies.

Good lesson for Najib, the slap in the face by Sibu Chinese folk should wake Najib up from his delusion of success after only one year as PM. There is no shortcut to success or happiness..Najib and BN will have to help the people who need help and will vote BN in return. Status Quo for the Chinese?

Votes cannot be bought. Good service by the assemblymen will do much better.

Bro Eddy / HL,

You can't blame Najib! That's BN's "modus operandi"! He's just doing what they have always done.

I cannot agree more. But like the Hantulaut in an earlier post, I go a step further: Najib's attempt at vote-buying and the resulting defeat of the BN at their stronghold of Sibu, might very well cost him the prime ministership. Let's wait and see. The same forces in the BN that forced Mahathir and Badawi to step down, are at work now. They are just waiting for the right time.

Bro Tumbawa, he, he, mana you tahu..same forces at work to bring down Najib? Maybe adalah but it would not happen until after the next General Electionlah. UMNO is a very foxy party Bro there is not enough time between now and the GE, so they will wait..Najib knows that.

The formation of Perkasa blessed by Dr Mahathir is a taste of things to come for Najib and Rosmah. Its politics Bro, nothing personal Dr Mahathir and Najib understands that very well.

Brothers,

By the way, I don't believe this loss will be a set-back for Najib. He needs to watch old man TDM though...I think TDM will try to get rid of Najib & install Muhyiddin!
But TDM better watch out...Roamsh ain't a push-over!
