Rebranding of PAS, Who Is The Biggest Loser?

Hantu Laut

The results of the recent PAS party elections showed that PAS has discarded its Islamic tag kicking out the ulamas from its top leadership in order to better spread its influence among non-Muslims and other bumiputras.

DAP's rising popularity and unprecedented success in the recent Sarawak elections has given PAS members the inspiration and realization that using the Islamic robe may not go down well with non-Muslims, urbanised Malays and bumiputras of Sabah and Sarawak. It is time to exchange the Islamic robe for a more secular attire.

PAS learned very fast from the recent Sarawak state elections. Its Islamic credentials struck fear in the hearts of East Malaysians. The two states has strong Christian population. Its performance in the Sarawak elections was disastrous. With its new image it can now cast a wider net in the two East Malaysian states using the Erdogen ( Oxford Dictionary should include this noun in its next edition) name tag.

Who would be the biggest loser with PAS new cosmetic makeup?

Why cosmetic? Because behind the new image lurks the leopard with the same spot, the influential syura council is still dominated by the ulamas. The ulamas can still make a come back when time is ripe for them to do so.

If PAS came out the biggest winner collecting the most number of parliamentary seats in the 13th General Elections than the biggest loser would be Anwar Ibrahim who would lose his chance of becoming prime minister. The premiership would either go to Hadi Awang or DAP's favourite horse, the liberal minded Mohammad Sabu also popularly known as Mat Sabu.

As former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohammad wrote in his blog posting that the biggest winner is not PAS but DAP and Karpal Singh who managed to convert PAS to drop its Islamic tag and take the secular road.Karpal Singh has won the day and he needs not die to allow PAS to govern the nation.

DAP, as the second biggest party emerging from the 13th GE (General Elections) would have undue influence on who would be prime minister from the PAS stable.PKR would be the most junior partner in the coalition if Pakatan could muster enough seats to form the government. Anwar would not be able to demand the premiership to be given to him.

How do conservative Malays view PAS new image?

Do not rule out the possibility that PAS new image may actually works against it and works in favour of UMNO.

PAS may gain from some non-Muslims votes but may lose greater part of its Malay votes if conservative Malays deem supporting PAS is supporting DAP to greater height and political power and weakening of the Malay political power.Ardent DAP supporters would vote for PAS candidates in the hope of strengthening DAP grip in the coalition government if it materialised.

The March 2008 General Elections and the recent Sarawak polls are testimonies of how powerful the Chinese can be if they took a united stand. In its entire existence DAP has not seen its political fortunes rising to a dizzying height, capturing Penang for itself and powerful coalition partner in Selangor and Perak when Perak was under Pakatan. It grabbed almost all seats under the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. In Sarawak elections it won 12 out of 15 seats contested. It's due to get solid block of the Chinese votes in the 13th GE decimating MCA and Gerakan.

I would not speculate on the judgement of Anwar's sodomy trail. It can go both ways.I expect the trail would drag on until after the 13th GE.The BN would be in imminent danger of losing the elections if Anwar is incarcerated before the general elections. As it is Anwar's influence has diminished somehow but sending him to prison would make him a hero and precipitates the people's anger.

If UMNO leaders think sending Anwar to prison would lessen Pakatan's chance of winning the elections they are mighty wrong.Anwar may be the devil he is but majority of Malaysians and even the holier than thou PAS leaders and supporters believed in his innocence.Anwar is also the link between PAS and DAP. Without his political manoeuvring the partners deep-seated differences could derail the coalition.

PAS has yet to be accepted in the East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak which would rather stay with the devil they know.Sabahans and Sarawakians biggest fear, particularly the Christians, is if PAS become the biggest partner in Pakatan taking over UMNO's role. The recent re-branding of PAS failed to excite the East Malaysians. The results of the 12th GE was a telling sign why Pakatan did not do well in Sabah and Sarawak.

Except for the DAP which will gain grounds in Sabah and Sarawak in the 13th GE, the other partners, PKR and PAS will not do well.I expect the KDM in Sabah and the Dayaks in Sarawak would stay put in BN.

The cold war in UMNO Sabah would also have a bearing on how the KDM would vote. If Najib's nominee Shafie Apdal stands in a state seat in the 13th GE than he is destined to be the chief minister replacing Musa Aman. There are talks that the KDM leaders are not in favour of Shafie after what happened during Mustapha's time and that there would be a new influx of immigrants using the back door. The story may have no bearing at all but the fear against illegal immigrants is real and more entranced in the KDM people.Najib needs to chose his candidates very carefully.

UMNO should not fear PAS new image, they could use it to their advantage if they know how.

Pakatan Rakyat's Deafening Silence

Hantu Laut

This is one of Malaysia's biggest shame and a waste of taxpayer's money paying for a bloated and inefficient civil service. An admission that Malays and bumiputras are unproductive lots.We need 10 to do 5 men's jobs.

The same thing happened in Sabah under the PBS regime filling up the civil service with KDM as fast as they could which has bloated the Sabah civil service till today. No succeeding government dares to take action to remedy the problem.

Surprisingly, Pakatan Rakyat has shown no interest on this subject which incurs the nation huge and wasteful recurring expenditure.

They have made a litany of other promises but stayed clear of this one that could save the nation billion of ringgits in wastage of public funds if the civil service were to be trimmed by half. This nation could have more money for development if half of the dead weight are removed from the civil service.

A complete "deafening silence" on the opposition front.Your guess as good as mine why they stayed clear of this controversial issue.

First World City Suffering From Third World Woes

Hantu Laut

When I lived in Singapore in the eighties and early nineties there was never a case of flooding in the commercial districts other then the occasional flash floods at Bukit Timah Road.

I suppose the massive reclamation works to increase the size of the city state are contributing to the new phenomenon.

Woe betide those who upset mother nature.

The heavy downpour early on Sunday also triggered flash floods across several parts of the island.

Senett Estate, Potong Pasir, MacPherson, Toa Payoh and Bukit Timah were also partially submerged by floods.

Two lanes along Bukit Timah Road near Cuscaden and Hillcrest Road were completely impassable to traffic at one stage. So too was the Kranji Expressway (KJE) at the slip road towards Woodlands.

With the advent of global warming Singapore would soon be the Venice of the East and eventually join the legendary Atlantis.

How Sex Can Keep Your Husband Happy - The Obedient Wives Club

Hantu Laut

Now we know why men strayed. Disobedient wives depriving their husbands of their sexual needs? Ibrahim Ali wasn't wrong when he said men seek extra marital sex because their wives neglect their responsibilities particularly on the subject of sex, which offended and outraged women's groups in the country.

Ironically, the "Obedient Wives Club" no less a women's group agree with his misplaced notion.

Must men get sex on demand irrespective of the time of day? The "Obedient Wives Club" appears to think so. Even if you are doing your household chores just drop your panties if your husband came home and has a sudden urge to copulate. Is that what marriage is all about.....SEX ? Men do enjoy sex but that has never been the reason for choosing your life partner.Sexual chemistry is but a small part of the equation.

Do you drive your man away just because of unfulfilled sex at home or there are other unpalatable reasons he sways and strays or is it because man are man, more physical and instinctive in nature? As in the saying "familiarity breeds contempt" it takes a long time to get to know a person well and people can change in behaviour and temperament. Your spouse may not be the same person ten years later as when you first met her or him.

Not all man enter or depart from a marriage because of sex. Most men do not think of sex as of their three daily meals. It is absolute fallacy. Sex is just part and parcel of our biological needs.Unlike food, water and air some people can live without it.There are men who stayed single and calibate their entire life.

Plenty of sex at home would not keep your husbands from straying.About 40 to 50% of men seek sexual gratification outside their relationship. The Kinsy sex study in 1950 found that 50% of men cheat at some point in their marriages. So, do what you like ladies if your man falls in that 50% category you may be the most beautiful, caring and obedient wife no matter how hard you try your man will stray. Some may have one indiscretion, some may have multiple indiscretions and some may just be incorrigible.

History has shown that men crave sexual variety. It's a primordial instinct that dates back to their stone age days. The hunters gatherers days and now instead of hunting and gathering food some men hunt and gather women.

In West Malaysia it seems a common practice amongst Muslim men to have more than one wives.I know of a driver who kept three wives plus the occasional girlfriends on a driver's salary. How he did it is a wonderment.

Being married to high-profile men ups the odds he'll stray because women are attracted to men who have power and status.
John F.Kennedy have had regular shenanigans when Jackie Kennedy was not in the White House. Donald Trump is proud of his name tag as the ultimate Lothario, unscrupulous seducer of women. The downfall of IMF Chief Dominique Strauss Kahn over an alleged rape of a chamber maid defies logic of a man of his status who can have as many consenting women as he wishes, is, if it is true, personification of the man inability to control lust.

OWC vice-president Dr Rohaya Mohamad said that women often forget their duties as a “good wife” which include providing pleasure to their husbands in the bedroom.

“A good wife is a good sex worker to her husband. What is wrong with being a whore in bed to your husband?” she asked.

The irony is Rohaya is a third wife out of four wives in one big happy family.

I wish good luck to members the "Obedient Wives Club" and hope their frequent bonking at home would keep the husbands happy and house-bound.
