Itu Peribahasa English Lah, Bodoh!

Hantu Laut

Is she ignorant or she thinks it is Mahathir that is ignorant?

Read what Nurul Izzah says here about Mahathir's use of the English idiom "better the devil you know (than the devil you don't)" which means "it is wiser to deal with someone familiar, though you may not like them, than to deal with someone who you do not know, who might be worse."

"I'm disappointed that Mahathir called Najib a devil...he is not," she told a press conference today.

Hahaha! Of course Najib is a devil in the eyes of Pakatan leaders and supporters as much as I and many others see the devil in her father Anwar Ibrahim and other Pakatan leaders.

Is she a product of our local education system that only study English as a subject and go no further?

Dear Nurul Izzah! It's metaphoric.

Malaysia's Opposition Leader Stepping Down ?

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has warned Malaysia’s middle classes to support his bid for the top job in the next election or risk losing him altogether. Anwar, an astute and hardened politician, realizes that if he can’t defeat the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition this time around then it will be time to pass the baton.
“If we don’t get the mandate, then we should give space for the second-liners in leadership,” he said during an online forum broadcast on YouTube.
Anwar served as United Malays National Organization (UMNO) – the lead party in the current governing coalition – deputy prime minister until 1998 when he had a falling out with the then prime minister Mahathir Mohamad and was imprisoned for corruption and sodomy. He was released from jail in 2004, however, after the sodomy conviction was overturned and quickly returned to Parliament.
Despite retiring in 2003 after 22 years-in-power, Mahathir has remained Anwar’s nemesis. This rivalry is partly fueled by Mahathir’s son, Murhkriz, entering politics as a Member of Parliament. Mahathir is widely believed to be steering his son towards the prime minister’s job.
Anwar was again acquitted of sodomy charges in January amid claims that UMNO’s old guard, who have ruled the country since independence in 1957, were using the legal system to carry out a campaign to smear and silence the country’s loudest and most popular opposition voice. Sodomy is illegal in the country and if convicted Anwar could have faced up to 20 years in prison.
After being acquitted on that charge, Anwar was again arrested in May for taking part in an illegal rally that was attended by tens of thousands of people who demanded electoral reforms. Read more.

When can they put their act together, or can they?

Anwar not making sense’

How can these defecting leaders who are the very reason Sabah politics is in its current state be Pakatan’s solution to wresting Putrajaya in the 13th general election?

“It makes no sense… how can the problem [of defectors] be the solution for Sabah ” was the immediate response of a political analyst in reaction to Anwar Ibrahim’s live chat on “Borak Bersama Anwar” [Chat with Anwar ] on Google Hangout on Friday night.Read more.

Karpal: Pakatan will ban party hopping

If Pakatan Rakyat were to capture Putrajaya, the DAP would propose to remove the constitutional barrier that bans a resigning parliamentarian or assemblyman from re-contesting for five years.

In its place, said DAP supremo Karpal Singh the party would propose a constitutional amendment to deter party hopping by federal and state lawmakers.

He said the current constitutional barrier was being used by defecting elected representatives to justify their refusal to relinquish their seat when they defect.Read more.

Lim Kit Siang's May 13 Expos'e: Truth or Chicanery ?

Hantu Laut

The 1969 General Election was held on 10th May in West Malaysia, but in Sabah and Sarawak the parliamentary elections was postponed to between 17 and 21 June.

Gerakan and DAP, the two opposition parties intense political campaign was against Article 153 of the Constitution, which outlined special privilages for bumiputras.

The Alliance Party lost Penang to Gerakan and Perak to DAP and Selangor hunged in the balance, which the Alliance eventually gained by one seat in collobration with an independent candidate. UMNO's arch-rival PAS took Kelantan.

What Kit Siang said may be true, but the question is, has he any prior knowledge of the impending trouble?

Gerakan and DAP held a victory march in KL on 12 May, which turned rowdy, with party members shouting racial slurs at Malay bystanders. They diverted from their approved route and changed it to pass through Kampong Baru, a Malay dominated area in KL with the attention of throwing epithets at the Malay bystanders. UMNO countered with its own rally on 13 May, which broke out into full-scale rioting.

Which side fired the first salvo is still very fuzzy.

Kit Siang affirmed he was not in KL on the fateful day. Watch the videos.

Let us good Malaysians hope history won't repeat itself. Let us set aside our ethnicity and cultural differences and think as One Malaysia.
