Here I am, completely immobilised, eating dust instead of breathing fresh mountain air.

Kathmandu is highly polluted with dust particles due to many of its unpaved roads.

It's an old civilisation that had grown backward.

Today is bandh day in Kathmandu. There is bandh every other day in this city, but today is a big one that virtually lock down the city. 

Most schools, shops and offices are closed and many major roads in the city are closed to traffics and almost all public transports will came to a grinding halt, I was told.



Yesterday, the government raised fuel prices and angry student unions affiliated to various political parties have said that they would close down all petrol kiosks across the country for three days from Sept 14 to protest the price hike. 

'Lo and behold' I wonder how they are going to do that, but in Nepal, I was told, by hook or by crook, it will happen.

I am not very clear what today's big protest really about, nothing much in the newspaper to tell the true story. 

Of little that I know, being told, it is about protest against elections to the Constituent Assembly, which comprises many political parties including a communist led 33-agitating party alliance led by the CPN-Maoist party. 

Hahaha! These communists are serious about democracy and the right to demonstrate freely on the streets.



This is a wonderful country for people who like to protest, demonstrate, or just go walkabout. 

However, nothing have ever changed in spite of the frequent demos, protests, rallies, marches and whatever name you wish to give it.It's the only growth industry here.

Most protests are peaceful and accompanied by the police, but once a while, some ended up in bloody clashes with the police.


Well, if you are bored we can always go to Freak Street where its squalor and beauty are no more irresistible of days bygone the Flower Power. 



The freakish madness of the time had passed into the dustbin of history.

Even before getting the big guns they already behaved like absolute monarchs, worse than the one they want to get rid off......the abominable UMNO.....looking more and more democratic under Najib.

They have their own lese-majeste law that forbids anyone under their rule to criticise them. 

In Penang you have "Dear Leader" who talked democracy but practised autocracy. Anyone or any media who gets on the wrong side of him will be banned from his press conference. His deputy thinks he is a "tokong" worshipped by the Chinese of Penang. The Malays think he is anti-Malay. He thinks he doesn't need the Malay votes, so be it.

Kit Siang, Don't Belittle The Special Branch Report

It is irresponsible of Lim Kit Siang and other Pakatan leaders to ignore the Special Branch report of possible infiltration of subversive elements in PAS, DAP and PKR, accusing the government of spinning the story. 


Instead, Kit Siang should start his party's own investigation before he simply discard it as a ploy by the government to demonise the opposition. Story here.


For start, maybe, Kit Siang should explain the spate of protests and demonstrations that started with Hindraf and culminated in tension and chaos with BERSIH 3, organised under the guise of peaceful demonstration for free and fair elections. 


If Malaysia's elections are truly rotten how come his son can become the Chief Minister of Penang and the state came under DAP control. The same happened in Selangor, Kedah, Perak and Kelantan. Pakatan also took 8 out of 9 seats in The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. 


Can Kit Siang answer this question! Did Pakatan also used phantom voters to win?


History has shown that it is common communist tactic to organise protests, demonstrations, sabotages and civil disobedience to bring down elected government. 


Between the late 1940s to 1980s Singapore was under serious communist threat. The CPM organised strikes and other forms of political agitation.Many attempted assassinations were foiled by the Special Branch. Singapore continued to face communist threat after independence with pro-communist elements resorting to organised strikes and act of arson and vandalism. Lee Kuan Yew was quick to realise the threat and used every possible means at his disposal to wipe out the communist threat, which he did successfully.


I will not dwell on the communist insurgency in Malaysia as they are the same as in Singapore, led by Chin Peng and the CPM and most Malaysian politicians knew the history.


However, with the resurgence of a strong opposition there were attempts by certain quarters to make Chin Peng a hero and a freedom fighter, which again point to the possibility of communist elements or sympathisers in DAP, which Kit Siang may not be aware of.


I will not put aside the likelihood of Jemaah Islamiah (JI) infiltrating PAS. Members of PAS particularly the "youth wing" has shown deep intolerance for anything outside the realm of Islam.They have constantly protested against foreign artists performing in Malaysia without due consideration that Malaysia is multiracial and multi religious. The Memali incident was related to PAS.


Not all Malaysians are Malays or Muslims and the Constitution only make Islam the official religion and not the other way around, Islam has no jurisdiction over non-Muslims. 


Non-Muslims would have to deal with the problem of encroachment of their rights should Pakatan came to power. PAS is not going to let "sleeping dogs lie" it will pursue its Islamic doctrine. 


Sometimes, people are easily misled.The other day a friend told me that the Chinese in Kelantan are very happy and voted for PAS. The question I asked him, was there any Chinese candidate in Kelantan's elections and whether he knew of the insignificant of Chinese votes in Kelantan.


Almost 95% population of Kelantan are ethnic Malays and the balance 5% divided between Chinese and Thai. PAS knew the insignificant of these two ethnic groups and is not the least bit worried whether PAS gets their supports.


There are vast differences between Chinese in Kelantan and Chinese in the rest of the country.Except for religion, the Chinese in Kelantan, for all intents and purposes, are Malays, speak the same language and adopt "Malay behaviour as front stage and Chinese behaviour as backstage"


Without looking at the person, it would be hard to tell a Chinese from a Malay by listening to his speech in the Kelantanese dialect. They are not your normal Malaysian Chinese.


Can Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, Karpal Singh and the rest of the Chinese and Indians in the country be like the Kelantanese Chinese? If they can than this country would not suffer racial polarisation.The Kelantan Chinese have given the Malays the comfort of being truly Kelantanese, by adopting and respecting the Kelantanese Malay culture in their presence and still practised the Chinese culture backstage.The Kelantanese Malay do not feel threatened or overwhelmed by the Chinese.


Many Chinese are misled by this exaggerated story spread by the opposition to hoodwink the Chinese in the country that PAS is Chinese user friendly. It may, or may not be, but going by its actions, in all likelihood it will stay the Islamic journey, embolden to pursue "hudud" as they have asserted, time and again.


Do not belittle the SB report, terrorist incident is visible, espionage cases are not easy to detect unless you have excellent police work.


Our SB is one of the best in the region and that's why Malaysia was spared the act of terrorism, unlike our neighbours Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines, who weren't so lucky.


I suggest Kit Siang do some soul-searching before he politicises the SB report. Malaysia have seen a number of attempts by small group of militant out to topple the government.


I would like to refresh Kit Siang's mind of past terrorist's act in this country:


1.August 1975 - Terrorists from Japanese Red Army (JRA) held approximately 50 civilians including members of the US consulate and the Swedist charge' d'affaires as hostages within the AIA building and demanded release of 5 imprisoned comrades and flew them to Libya. I was working and living in KL then and my office was not far from AIA.


2.December 1977 - A lone member of the JRA hijacked MAS Flight 653, shot the pilots and himself killing 100 passengers when the plane crashed.


3.November 1985 - Memali - About 400 people of an Islamic sect led by Ibrahim Libya took up arms against the government out of serious rift in the Malay Muslim community between PAS and UMNO. Leaders of PAS had concluded that members of UMNO were apostates.The stand off resulted in clashes that killed 14 civilian and 4 policemen. I was on the same plane as former PM Mahathir on the way to Beijing, being part of a trade delegation when the news was broke to us about Memali.


4.July 2000 - The Al-Ma'unah group stole over 111 military firearms and ammunitions.Police negotiation failed and gunfight ensued killing 3 people including 2 hostages.In the same year Kedah state assemblymen Joe Fernandez was shot by a member of a religious militant group.


5.August 2001 - Discovery of KMM, a militant group and underground movement out to topple the Mahathir's regime.Received training in Afghanistan led by Nik Adil Nik Abdul Aziz, all arrested under the ISA.


The network has already been put in place for massive demonstrations to accuse the BN of cheating in the next general elections and calling for people's power to demolish the government should Pakatan Rakyat failed to capture Putrajaya.


The oppositions can deny it until the cows come home, the momentum had been set by BERSIH 3 and Ambiga is only a pawn in the game.

Singaporeans reawaken the "Marxist Conspiracy

Twenty-five years later, a handful of people seek to redress an old wrong

Last weekend, about 400 Singaporeans gathered in a local park to call attention to a notorious 25-year-old raid called Operation Spectrum, when Singapore’s Special Branch swooped down on 16 activists and community workers and charged them with being involved in a Marxist conspiracy to overthrow the government. Eventually six more were arrested, bringing the total to 22.

To this day, no one is really sure what it was about. The 22 were mostly young Catholics who were forced to “confess” on television such sins as sending books to China, which might have made a good deal more sense if instead they had been receiving books from China, which was then still a putatively Marxist dictatorship. The detainees didn’t fit any stereotypes as agitators, such as those who rattled the island republic during the decades of the 1950s and 1960s. They were actors, social workers, lawyers and students.

The fact that 400 Singaporeans could assemble in a public park to discuss the 25-year-old events and demand that the government do away with its harsh Internal Security Act without seeing their leaders carted off to jail may be an indication that despite the country’s reputation for draconian punishment for anyone contradicting the government, some things may have indeed changed.

The June 2 event was organized by the human rights NGO Maruah, which calls itself the focal point for the Working Group for an ASEAN Human Rights Mechanism, a regional group with its secretariat based in Manila. Maruah appealed for 350,000 signatures to call for a commission of inquiry on whether there had been a Marxist conspiracy at all. Another group, Function 8, released a statement saying that “Nothing substantial or credible was ever produced to corroborate the government’s allegations. Later documents showed even greater ambiguity in the reasons behind the detentions in 1987. An injustice was perpetuated and continues to linger to this day.”

Many of the detainees have later alleged wrongful detention, ill treatment and torture.

There is considerable conjecture that then-Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew was concerned about the Catholic liberation theologists who had become active across South America and, in Asia, the Philippines in particular – priests demanding social justice and an end to poverty, and that he didn’t intend to see anything like that happen in Singapore. In court testimony in a libel suit – one of many that Lee would file against the press and particularly several against the now defunct Far Eastern Economic Review, the then-prime minister said his concern was to prevent a collision between the church and the government. He said he wanted to defuse the situation, which he felt was being aggravated by the actions of some priests in whipping up emotion through press statements and special masses for the detainees.Read more.

PAS/Pakatan Leaders Should Visit Chin Peng ( National Hero)

PAS leaders, particularly, Mat Sabu should visit national hero Chin Peng lying critically ill on his death bed in a hospital in Bangkok.

If Mohmmad Indera is a national hero than Chin Peng must be one even bigger national hero because he was the leader of the CPM that tried to liberate Malaya from British colonial rule and Mohammad Indera came from the same organisation.

In the past some opposition leaders have asked the government to allow Chin Peng to return to Malaysia but to no avail.Maybe, they should appeal for his body to be brought back so he can lie in state for Malaysians to show their last respect to this mass murderer.

Travestying history is their next sophistical project to fool the foolhardy Malaysians.

Bukit Kepong: Malaysia's Alamo

The issue of Bukit Kepong is getting hotter each passing day, both sides of the political divide are not giving up.I am not a fan of people who tries to rewrite history to suit their political agenda and ridiculous propaganda.

Mat Sabu claiming that the commies were the real heroes is just playing to the gallery...... the target audience ?............ the young uninitiated pea-brained Malaysians that you find all over the blogosphere with their bad English and nasty comments......and so easily indoctrinated.

Below are some excerpts from Wikipedia on what happened on that tragic day 23 February 1950 at Bukit Kepong:

The incident started just before dawn with the Communists launching a guerrilla assault on the police station leading to the deaths of almost all of the police officers stationed there. When they began the siege, the attackers strongly believed that they would be able to defeat the policemen and gain control of the police station within a short span of time. This is due to several factors in their favour: their arms and numerical superiority and the relative isolation of the station. The battle began at about 4:15 am.

According to eyewitness accounts, there were about 200 Communists attacking, led by Muhammad Indera, a Malay Communist. Despite the odds, the policemen led by Sgt. Jamil Mohd Shah, refused to surrender, although numerous calls by the communists for them to lay down arms were made. Several officers were killed as the shooting continued and two wives of the defending officers took up arms when they discovered that their husbands fell in battle.^[2]

Desperate and alarmed at the defenders’ tenacity, the Communists captured one of the officers’ wives and threatened her at gunpoint to urge the policemen to surrender. The defenders replied that they would never surrender and continued fighting. Another wife of the officers and her daughter were also forced to do the same. Their refusal then resulted in their execution.^{[citation needed]}

In the final hours of the fierce battle, the Communists set fire to the officers’ barracks and station. Two women and their children were burnt to death in the married quarters. At that point only 3 policemen plus a village guard were still alive. They rushed out from the burning station, unable to withstand the heat. They then assaulted the Communists position, killing at least 3 of them.

Only about five hours after the first shot was fired did the communists manage to break their defences and set the place ablaze. They then retreated into the jungle.

14 policemen, 4 village guards, 3 auxiliary policemen, wife of Abu Bakar Daud (one of the surviving policemen) and three of their children were killed in the incident. The total number of deaths is 25. Those who survived the bloody encounter are 4 policemen and 9 family members including their wives and children. Read the full story here.

Almost all killed in action that day defending the police outpost were Malay policemen and their families against 200 commies.There was no European or British casualty.

Mat Sabu really need to apologise to the Malays.

George Santayana's "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" or George Bernard Shaw's "If history repeats itself, and the unexpected always happens, how incapable must Man be of learning from experience".

Henry Ford laments "History is more or less bunk( rubbish)", but I say one must learn from history as not to repeat it.We can collated history but once carved in stone we can't change it.

When I was a young man at lower secondary school we learned world's history, history of the British Empire and local history as well.

In one local history we learned about a man called "Mat Salleh" who was branded a pirate and a rebel by the British.For many years the school children of Sabah had been taught to deplore Mat Salleh as a pirate, a rebel and a troublemaker.Read the story here what caused Mat Salleh to rebel against the British.

Now, Mat Salleh is a patriot, a fighter and a hero fighting against unjust (?) British rule.Young Sabahans that have not read the old history book were asked to revere Mat Salleh as a true freedom fighter and a hero.The government even built a fort in Tambunan in his honour that looked more like a church without the cross.




Tambunan was his last stand before he was killed by the British.There is even a folklore that he may return one day to finish the job.

Sabah used to be owned by Brunei whose Sultan later ceded the territory to the Sultan of Sulu, who later ceded the territory by way of a lease to an Austrian, Baron Von Overbeck, who later sold the lease to Alfred Dent who formed the Chartered Company that ruled Sabah from 1881 until 1946 when it became a British crown colony.

There was no central government and no law and order before the Chartered Compay took charge of the country which they called North Borneo and later known as British North Borneo when it became a British colony after World War II.

We all know 16 Sept 1963, when Sabah, Sarawak,Singapore and Malaya became a new nation called Malaysia.Singapore was kicked out of Malaysia two years later. After that as we all know..... the rest is history.

Depending who wrote the history books, historical events can be adjudged according to the prevailing time or manipulated to suit the capricious and often blinkered mood of the person.

Most, if not all, history books that we read and learned from were written by Western writers. The East do not have the resources and education to write their own history books then.

What is history?

In a nutshell, it is a study of past events, particularly in human affairs.History can be the accretion of facts, half-truths or fictions.Why fight tooth and nail over it. Why don't we just leave the tyranny of history behind us and look forward to the future.

Malaysian politicians surely came off the same mould, both sides are over reacting to such useless piece of history.

Malaya gained independence through peaceful means and the wisdom of people like Onn Jaafar,Tengku Abdul Rahman and the ilk, certainly not those idiots who stormed and killed innocent people at the Kepong Police station.

To sum it all up, Malaya gained independence through the wisdom of UMNO leaders,the Chinese and Indian leaders at that time......and as they say "The rest is history".

Mat Sabu's Sword Of Damocles

Too much have been said about Mat Sabu's version of the nation's communist chronicle. A mangling of the nation's historical events for political expediency that may turn sour.

Not many Malays would agree with Mat Sabu, be they in UMNO, in PAS or those without any political affiliation.

Communism has always been the enemy of the Western democratic system which we have inherited.There is no nice connotation that can be associated with communism which, more often than not, resorts to armed struggle to bring down elected governments.


Malaysiakini glorifying communism.

The Emergency years in the than British Malaya and later Malaysia was, nonetheless, an armed struggle by communists to takeover power openly backed by the Chinese Communist Party of China.



It is not about chasing out the British for the independence of a democratic nation but rather the installation of communist regimes throughout South East Asia. In furtherance of that cause Malaya and Singapore were chosen as the stepping stones due to the significant Chinese population.



Twisting of the history book and glorifying communism for the sake of political expediency by a top leader of PAS is indeed disturbing to the families of those who lost their lives in defending the nation's freedom and those with anti-communist sentiments.

Mat Sabu is playing the devil's advocate hoping to ride on the Chinese votes for PAS bigger political agenda.Some members of DAP espoused such idea that the communists in CPM (Communist Party Of Malaya) were the true freedom fighters and liberators for independence of Malaya. In the past the Chinese were infidels, today they are comrades of PAS leaders.

Mat Sabu over-hyped the communist insurgency.As far as the Malays are concerned he has hung the sword of Damocles over his head.
