THE HUMBUG

Hantu Laut

There are many mercenary writers like this guy who indulged in idiotic spin. He may sound smart to many below average IQ Malaysians, but sorry to say, I am not buying.

He pathetically compared 'apples and oranges' with complete disregard of proper technical analysis.

It's not rocket science to conclude that Mr Ng is nothing but a humbug.

Let's get down to the nitty-gritty of his pat and contrived comparison. I wouldn't bore you with the prolixity of a lengthy debate but get to finishing line as quickly as possible.

First and foremost, Norway is a much bigger producer of crude oil on much smaller population.

At its peak Norway produced 3.2 million bbl/per day, but now production has petered to about 2.0 million bbl/per day on a population of 5 million people. It is also the world's 3rd largest exporter of natural gas.

Simple arithmetic will tell you the amount of massive surpluses in oil revenue going into government coffers, hence, the massive sovereign funds and multiplier effect of more oil surpluses and dividends from sovereign funds. Norway needs not tap into the funds as yet and until such time it has exhausted its oil wells.

Malaysia, on the other hand, currently produce around 670,000 bbl/per day and export only about 270,000 bbl/per day and import another 160,500 bbl/per day of crude to supplement its domestic consumption. Of its natural gas production of 61.73 billion cu m, only 33.1 cu.m were exported. Latest census shows that Malaysia's population is now almost 30 million and has bigger land mass.

It's again not rocket science to tell you that Malaysia is not exactly net exporter of oil and to think that there are plenty of leftovers is wishful thinking and sheer foolishness.

Major portion of the recurring national budget and the huge unproductive subsidies are financed by profits from oil revenues.

Again, it is people like Mr Ng who benefitted from these subsidies.

By the way, non-oil producing Singapore is one notch higher than Norway in per capita income.

So, Mr Humbug Ng, if you can't tell the difference between the skin of an apple and that of an orange, .......please, don't ever try to sell something you have absolutely no clue about.

If BN Cheated Why Don't Give Themselves Two-Thirds

Hantu Laut

How do you talk to the incorrigibly dumb, or those who think they are smart, but aren't there yet, or those who made a boner and picked a loser..........and cried FOUL and FRAUD!

What about those who believe in everything they see on social media, blogs and so-called news portal spewing terrible halitosis that stinks to high heaven.

BN won, not by you folks in the cities, but by the folks in the kampongs.

Please, for the sake of this nation's peace and stability, stop showing off your huge rally in the city to fool yourself that you have the numbers.

No, you don't have!

The numbers are in the kampongs and they are called "CONSTITUENCIES" not "POPULAR VOTES" as your sore loser leaders have told you.

So what, if you have 120,000 strong in a stadium in Kuala Lumpur, are they representing the whole country or are victims of one man greed for power.

Below is what I posted on Facebook in response to some friends' support of Anwar fomenting a "Malaysian Spring"

I think Najib only speak what transpired on the ground. Ada pepatah Melayu kata "alang-alang mandi biar basah" If the BN cheated why don't they give themselves two-thirds majority instead of almost losing the government by the skin of their teeth, or why don't Najib better the 2008 results under Pak Lah. He can if he really wants to cheat, no?. I think Anwar is doing a great injustice to this country by his disgraceful act of fomenting the people to rise up against the government. He knew why BN won, partly his fault, he ignored the rural areas. This government won not by you people in the cities, it won by the rural constituencies, which many Malaysian don't understand or refused to accept. Our political system is not based on popular votes but on "first past the post", which even so many educated Malaysians either, can't understand, or pretended not to understand. U.K. have had many of this kind of results but people there are more intelligent and civilised, they don't accuse the government of cheating and defeated politicians take the defeat in their stride, unlike Anwar, the sore loser.I will not deny that there may be instances where BN may have provided transports and money to the kampong folks to go to polling centres, which is to be expected as kampong people are poor and do not have the means to travel to far-flung polling stations. Flying in 40,000 Banglas to vote, I think my grandfather (he is not Bangla, he is Pathan) must be kicking in his grave to hear so many Malaysians believe in such abominable lie. I can post a few past elections results in U.K if you guys still believe in Anwar's bullshit.

Pakatan's Pathetic Lie Busted:Indelible Ink Is Indelible.

Hantu Laut

Pakatan accused EC of conspiracy to cheat by saying indelible ink is not indelible.

Tian Chua of PR also accused the Chairman of EC as one of the conspirators and demanded his resignation here.

This is another one of PR lie to demonise the BN and fool the people.

After returning from the polling station to see whether the claim by PR is true or not, I was amusingly surprised after  using various methods including heavy scrubbing to wash her finger to remove the ink, it failed miserably.

I rest my case.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest

Hantu Laut

"Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it" said the man of letters George Santayana.

Greed has overtaken their better judgement, instead of taking the path of "united we stand, divided we fall" these knuckleheads believe they can beat Goliath on their own with a single swing of the sling. David brought five stones but had used only one to fell Goliath.

Haa! Our emboldened oppositions have forgotten 2008, the year many of my friends predicted the demise of Musa Aman and the BN, the doom and gloom of Barisan biting the dust. As they say the rest is history.

They used you, abused you and disused you. Never trust a politician they say.

A man spent 15 years of his life in a party and looked upon a leadership he thought would value his service and loyalty.

The same people who promised to give his state more autonomy, more oil revenue, more than enough promises that could fill up the black hole, but could not even keep a small promise of his candidacy.

If Anwar can bluff his own man and cheats him, can he not cheat Sabahans of all his promises ?

Never trust a man who wears a cynical smile on his face and cynical manipulation of public opinion.

This madness! Will history repeat itself?

Lowering Car Prices: Killing The Myth

Hantu Laut

Lowering car prices.

Another one of Anwar and Pakatan's hollow propaganda to fool the people.

After I posted my article "Reducing Oil Prices: Anwar On The Stump, Stumping The Idiots",  a regular commentator of this blog by pseudonym SM challenged me to not only expose our fuel prices being one of the lowest in the world and lowest in the region, but to also provide analysis and comparison of car prices with other countries in the region.

SM, is also a diehard supporter of Anwar Ibrahim and Pakatan Rakyat. Like most Malaysians he thinks our car prices are highest in the world.

Well, SM,  you are in for a big surprise, I will lay down facts and figures to show that was not the case. Our car prices are one of the lowest in the region.

I am talking about cars for the working class, not luxury cars craved by the wealthy, which in spite of the high prices are selling very well in this country.

The streets of Kuala Lumpur, other towns and cities are littered with posh cars of all luxury brands. A clear sign that there are more than enough people with more than enough money to buy them.

In Malaysia, cars are still seen as status symbol, particularly, among the Chinese community, a reflection of their success in business or in their profession. Though considered expensive by Western standard these luxury cars are selling very well in Malaysia and more often than not they be owned by Chinese business people.

It is not surprising that Anwar and other PKR leaders the likes of Rafizi Ramli and Azmin Ali tried to delude the people by blaming wrong government policy for the high prices of cars, which is completely untrue,  pure fiction and propaganda to fool unthinking Malaysians.

Below is the price of  a popular Japanese model in the Asean region.

Price of Toyota Vios 1.5 c.c

Malaysia - RM71,105. = US$23,389.00

Indonesia - Rp221,950,000. = US$22,833.00

Philippine - P869,000. = US$21,003.00

Thailand - THB559,000. = US$19,302.00

Singapore - $109,988. = US$88,864.00

Looking at the prices above are we much more expensive than our neighbours?

Malaysian made cars are even cheaper than the above foreign made model.

The cheapest in the market of a compact 4-door sedan is the Proton Saga 1.3 c.c. costing around US$11,479.00. Another popular model the Perodua MYVI is selling around US$14,456.00.

Unless, you want to bring the "one-lakh" car from India to this country which is just a basic body with an engine and four wheels, which is not likely to fit the Malaysian more sophisticated taste, the current prices for the type of cars available here are already almost floor level.

Ask Anwar and Rafizi how much lower can they go?

You probably can reduce by another 20% by removing all standard accessories that comes with it, which means no power windows, no power steering, no CD player, no sporty wheels, no cruise control, no electronically controlled side view mirrors and many more nonessentials.

Can you sell such basic cars in this market?

The current government policy of keeping car prices cheap for the proletariat and higher prices for luxury cars is the correct policy. It's a caring policy for the economically disadvantaged.

Our car prices are already lowest in the region.

Unfortunately, most Malaysians do not bother to check the facts and prefer to eat the opposition's wholesome lies, hook, line and sinker.

Rafizi, Malaysiakini,John Malott,Here's The EIU Report That Scares You, BN Is Strongly Positioned To Win

Hantu Laut

What's the huge different between "likely to win", "will win" and "strongly positioned to win"

Unless, you are Rafizi Ramli, Malaysiakini and John Malott, who are pickers of trivialities, you won't want to be seen stupid splitting hairs. These guys not only have small minds, they are also pathetic liars, lousy propagandists and ego maniacal.

Lies, lies, lies.  No where it is more apparent than in the quirky grouping called Pakatan Rakyat. Political oddballs cooking the devil's brew to cheat Malaysians.

PKR strategy chief Rafizi Ramli told FMT that the "EIU Report" that Barisan Nasional will win the 13th general elections is a complete spin by Bernama.

It wasn't a spin, it was just a sex-up. The EIU did suggest BN the likely winner, strongly positioned to win.  Below is the EIU report, short and sweet.

You want to read the full report, you have to pay.

Overview

Malaysia: risk assessment

Banking

Economic
structure risk
Country
risk
January 2013BBBAABBBBBBBBB
Sovereign risk
Stable: The fiscal position is likely to remain weak in 2013-14 as the government struggles to implement fully its programme of subsidy rationalisation. But at the equivalent of an estimated 52.9% of GDP in 2012, public debt is manageable.
Currency risk
Stable: Malaysia's score is on the cusp of the A and BBB rating bands. Foreign-exchange reserves remain at healthy levels, but in the past year they have not grown as fast as in 2011, owing to weak export receipts.
Banking sector risk
Stable: Malaysia's banking risk rating has strengthened from BBB to A. The improvement reflects the relatively strong net foreign assets position of the country's commercial banks—a situation that is likely to persist in 2013-14.

Political risk
The ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition is expected to complete its term, which ends in April. The BN is likely to win the subsequent election, but it will struggle to secure enough parliamentary seats to give it the two-thirds majority that would allow it to amend the constitution unchallenged.
Economic structure risk
Exports of goods and services will continue to account for a large proportion of GDP, highlighting Malaysia’s dependence on external trade.

Bernama did not spin the report. The spinner is Malaysiakini linking the story to a general report on Asian countries and not specific "country report" which is only accessible upon payment to EIU.

Below is the short report that cost me US$26.

Malaysia Economic and Political Outlook

Country Report Malaysia February 2013

Outlook for 2013-17

Election watch

February 4th 2013
The next parliamentary election must be held by mid-2013. Mr Najib is likely to make the performance of the economy a central plank of the BN's campaign and will emphasise the fact that, despite the gloomy global economic situation, the government's policies have helped to bolster domestic growth. The BN will also craft its campaign to appeal to voters in states where it lost control of the local assemblies to the PR at the last elections in 2008. Meanwhile, the opposition alliance is likely to focus its election campaign on the need to uphold the political and economic rights and interests of all Malaysians. The election will see the cash-strapped PR  pitted against the BN's well-oiled political machine. The BN is strongly positioned to win, although its likely margin of victory remains unclear. Mr Najib has worked hard to present himself as being committed to economic and social reform. However, this stance has yet to resonate with Malaysia's ethnic minorities, which make up around one-third of the electorate and whose members mostly voted for the PR in the 2008 election.

Japan's War Reparations:The Mythbuster

Hantu Laut

Nizar, the fallen angel of PAS compromise candidate for Perak MB, has he gone bonkers, or he is just another Pakatan's typical liar?

It was rumoured that PAS Kelantan had given the DAP head honcho in Perak a joint-venture logging operation in Kelantan as reward and compromise for Nizar to be MB, which makes no sense  at all, as the 'State Constitution' is very clear on a Malay Muslim mandatory appointment  as MB of the state.

It goes to show that DAP is very clever at arm-twisting. In Penang DAP's Lim Guan Eng hold a tight rein over the state and has little tolerance for opposing views, in Selangor DAP is the fiddler that plays the tune and Khalid Ibrahim dance to it.

Where did Nizar gets the figure of RM207 billion as Japan's war reparation for Malaysia? Did he not do any homework before he opens his big mouth and embarrass himself and the whole Pakatan's clowns with his piece of fiction.

With today's technology one can research, with caution, any subject matter with just a click of the computer's keyboard. One needs certain amount of intelligence to separate the "wheat from the chaff" or come out looking like an idiot. The Internet is a jungle of worthy and worthless information and a quagmire for the uninitiated.

Common sense do not prevail in people driven by emotion, they can't make logical progression of things. Nizar, a sore loser fits the bill.

The sum of RM207 billion given by Nizar as compensation agreed upon in 1967 between Japan and Malaysia would have bankrupted Japan before it can even rise from the ashes, which saw the country thoroughly vanquished after World War II.

Malaysia issued its first currency in 1967, replacing the Malaya and British Borneo dollar. The Malaysian dollar, as it was called then, was pegged at exchange rate of 8.57 to the British pound. At the historical exchange rate the RM207 billion would have worth 24 billion Pound Sterling. At current exchange rate it is worth 42 billion Pound. A mind boggling figure for any nation after going through the ravages of war in less than two decades. As victor or the vanquish, the toll on the economy and its peoples would be the same.

It is not possible for Japan to agree on such huge amount as Malaysia was not the only country it has to pay war reparations. The reparations came in the form of grants, write-offs, donations and cash compensations. The amounts are not paid in single payment but over a period.

Below is a chart that shows a more plausible figure of Japan war reparations paid to various countries including Malaysia.

Japan's Records on War Reparations
by Noguchi Hikaru
Japan has not dodged any responsibility for peaceful relations. The general public seems to be ignorant of the fact that Japan has faithfully met, negotiated, and fulfilled rigorous demands on all war-time reparations. Negotiations for post-war reparations started in 1951 and continued until 1977. In all, 54 treaties and agreements were concluded.

It is difficult to simplify the whole picture, but the following table will give you an idea:

Indemnity & grants (in yen, at the time of payment)
Loans (in yen, at the time of payment)
Micronesia
1950
18 billion donated

Myanmar
1955, 1963

Cambodia

Sweden

Britain & Holland used Japanese assets in neutral countries & funds in Thailand for compensation to POs (but not confiscated Japanese assets in their respective countries)
USA 50 million dollars Japanese assets in USA confiscated Occupation era food and medical aid (GAROIA) and (EROA) paid back, with interest: 580 million dollars 7-year occupation costs paid by Japan
Construction of such economic and social infrastructure in Asia would not have been possible without Japan's ODA. Why was there such a focusing of aid to Asia? It was shaped from an unspoken consensus and desire among the Japanese public, even though our legal obligations had been met, to re-build friendship with our Asian neighbors. The negotiations and implementation of agreements were carried out with sincerity. Payments of reparations, which sometimes exceeded national welfare expenditure, started in 1955, lasted for 23 years, and ended in 1977. The amounts were huge for Japan, compared to the national economy of this period, but they were paid out in good faith. It should be emphasized that how all the money were spent were up to the discretion of the individual governments, beyond the dictates of Japan. Very often the governments chose not to use the funds to compensate individual losses, but instead to improve the general national economy or welfare.
The first country with which Japan concluded an agreement was Myanmar (Burma). A total of about 90 billion yen of indemnity and semi-indemnity were paid out to Myanmar, which was about 9 per cent of Japan's budget. When agreements were concluded with the Philippines, in 1956, Japan's national budget was a little over one trillion yen. Indemnity and semi-indemnity promised to the Philippines totaled 27% of that budget. Similarly, when Korea and Japan reached an agreement in 1965, Japan agreed to pay 180 billion yen (500 million dollars) indemnity and aid. Looking from Korea's point of view, this amount was 1.45 times Korea's national budget, and 3.8 times its foreign reserves. Most of this money was used by the Korean government for the nation's modernization. Korea says that it contributed to 20 per cent of its economic growth between 1966 and 1975, and 8 per cent annually to cover its trade deficit. From 1975, Korea also started compensations to individual citizens for personal losses during the war. However, on the whole, the Korean government chose to use the resources for national prosperity over compensation to private citizens.

Anwar's Gun Happy Bodyguard:A Picture Paints A Thousand Words

Hantu Laut

Anwar's declining popularity have made him desperately seeking to resuscitate his tattered image. He has started campaigning before dissolution of Parliament.

Anwar's hammy theatre is back.

From being poisoned, seeking refuge in the Turkish Embassy for fear of assassination, to his car tampered with to kill him and death threats to him and members of his family, he has a script that would make a blockbuster movie in Never Never Land and J.M Barrie's Oscar for best actor in a leading role.

As usual, his modus operandi, if people don't want him in their kampong, blame it on UMNO.

Leadership by example. A man with a boss who shows no respect for the law, would act in the same way.

Watch the video and photo below of his trigger happy Joe, courtesy of Rocky Bru and Jiwa Paradox.

A picture paints a thousand words.

There is sufficient evidence to show that his bodyguard has acted beyond his line of duty.

Anwar was never in any imminent danger!

Pakatan Hantu:Pemerintah Bodoh, Rakyat Diperbodohkan !

Hantu Laut

Please allow me to quote a short paragraph from Niccolo Machiavelli's "The Prince", which every politician should read, but many don't, and if they do, they probably can't remember what they read.

Below is what he said of "Generosity and Parsimony"

"If you want to sustain a reputation for generosity, therefore, you have to be ostentatiously lavish; and a prince acting in that fashion will soon squander all his resources, only to be forced in the end, if he wants to maintain his reputation, to lay excessive burdens on  the people, to impose extortionate taxes, and to do everything else he can to raise money."

See below Pakatan's lavish promises that would, for sure, bankrupt the nation as rightly said by Machiavelli.

You miseries will come later when they ran out of money and have  no choice but to impose higher taxes on the people.

Do you trust them? There are only 3 partners in the coalition, how come there are 4 leaders shown here?

When can they be honest with the rakyat?

Malaysia's Vile Opposition.

Hantu Laut

Dirty campaigning has come to dominate Malaysian politics where, to the less discerning, even lies spun by the opposition had become percepts of the truth.

The usually all endearing and trusting Malaysian voters are now fixated by this new brand of political campaigning. The dirtier the spins the more excited and stimulated they become.

The oppositions are taking full advantage of negative campaigning to demonise the government.

The opposition Pakatan Rakyat predicted doomsday for the country if the current government is voted into power again.

Was there any assurance that Pakatan Rakyat can do better or they will be caught in their own lumber?

They used the increasing debt to GDP ratio as the catalyst that would catapult the country into bankruptcy and economic disaster for the people. Another attempt to hoodwink the public.

With the prevailing economic fundamentals that would be far fetched scenario.

Malaysia is not yet destined for the death bed, public debt which may seem high to the layman is not in dangerous territory yet, Malaysia's debt to GDP ratio is within manageable level and far lower than most developed Western nations in Europe and the Americas, many of which have much higher debt ratio.

Below are debt to GDP ratio of Malaysia and various other countries.

U.K.National debt

As you can see, we are still in positive territory compared to larger economies such as the U.K.and the U.S. who have borrowed to the hilt.

The U.S. hit the debt ceiling in 2011 whereby they have to go to Congress to increase the debt ceiling or face the grim prospect of defaulting on its debts. Faced with the imminent danger of becoming the biggest pariah and laughing stock of the world, Congress had no choice but to allow the increment. The U.S. insatiable appetite for more and more money to feed its overburdened budget may one day ruin not only the country but the whole world. It is the biggest world debtor.

The question is why are Western nations allowed to borrow seemingly beyond its capability to service its debts? The answer is simple, it's perceived credibility and confidence. These countries are seen as responsible nations that are not likely to default on its debt repayment. The world financial community have been more than willing to lend to these countries until the Greeks defied the law of gravity and demolished the invincibility of Western economies.

Why is Greece in trouble?

Greece trouble was not because of its borrowings but because of overspending.  It was living beyond its means. It just can't produce enough goods and services to repay its debts.Public sector wages, for example, rose 50% between 1999 and 2007, faster than other eurozone countries. There were also widespread tax evasion hitting its revenue badly. After years of overspending, its budget deficit spiralled out of control.

Is Malaysia likely to default on its debts? Not in the short and medium term but much depend on how the government is going to reduce its budget deficit over the years. Malaysia must take a leaf out of the Greek's book if she is to learn how to avoid such acutely damaging financial mismanagement.

Malaysia is not likely to default on its debt in the near future.

The next possible country debt default is likely to be in Europe again. Spain, Italy and for that matter Portugal and Ireland are all in shaky financial situation and faced a contracting economy. If no remedial actions are taken by the countries concerned they may need a lifeline and a lifeboat to keep them afloat or face the grim prospect of sinking with the debts.

Many African countries have very low debt to GDP ratio, which,  if one were to go by Pakatan Rakyat's fallacious argument and low debt philosophy, which they proudly claimed they have achieved through cost-cutting expenditure in Selangor and Penang, is a hyperbole. They boasted of good surpluses in their reserves.

A country that don't spend enough for the people cannot bring prosperity to the nation. It can also lead to stagnation of the economy just like some of the African states, it's gone so bad no one would want to lend them money.

Would you for a moment think life in Angola and Ghana is better than in Malaysia?

Angola, is the biggest crude oil producer in Africa producing almost 2 million barrels a day of crude oil yet it is still poor and one of the most politically unstable country in Africa, embroiled in civil war for 27 years, because every political leader want to lay his hand on the oil money. Sadly,  40% of its population is still living below the poverty line and rebellion continue to haunt every government that comes into power.

In the event they win the federal elections let's hope Pakatan leaders are not coveting the wealth of the nation and hope they will govern the country as they have promised.

In the case of those African countries, do you know why they have such low debt to GDP ratio? They have no credibility, nobody dare or want to lend them money, if someone dare take the risk they would charge very high interest rate compared to countries with less sovereign risk and better credit rating.

You can read debt to GDP ratio of 133 countries here and would see through the opposition lies and dirty campaigning. Here, Lim Guan Eng predicted that Malaysia would be bankrupt by 2019 and Malaysians should vote for DAP and Pakatan, which some economists predicted would bankrupt the country within two years of taking power if they implement all their promises.

Sometimes, they can't tell between fact and fiction, the good, the bad, the ugly and worst of all trying to fool the majority of Malaysians with their crappy tales.

The choice is yours between the devil you know and the one in the deep blue sea.

Nut Cases Independent Observers : Appointed By God Of PKR.

Hantu Laut

They called themselves independent observers but handpicked and appointed by Anwar Ibrahim.

By any stretch of your imagination how could this bunch of nut cases be independent if majority of them are Anwar's friends.

Which world body appoint them to speak? Did the UN sanctioned them to delve into Malaysia's electoral processes?

There is only one thing I can conclude on this deceptive and erroneous venture.

Anwar Ibrahim consider you Malaysians stupid, gullible and like the fishes can be easily baited.

Who is this dickhead?

A well known associate of Anwar who is alway critical of the Malaysian government and campaigned hard against our palm oil by labelling it fatty and dangerous. When he became very close to Anwar he withdrew his crusade against our palm oil.

Can you trust a man with two faces?

A few friends, gullible as ever, have told me, it is no more about Anwar Ibrahim, it's about democracy.

Do you see anything democratic in Pakatan Rakyat, people like Anwar Ibrahim, Azmin Ali, Lim Guan Eng and Lim Kit Siang who can't tolerate differences of opinion.

You must be blind if you can see any semblance of democracy in them. Many of my friends have already joined the long queue to vote for....."change for the sake of change".To them I wish good luck. This is a free country, vote whoever you think can bring the best for the country.

Remove Anwar from the equation and you will see Pakatan Rakyat crumbles like a house of cards.

The Pakistani idiot want to talk about democracy? What kind of democracy they have in Pakistan where killing, mass murder and bloodshed occurred every day. They have hanged one prime minister, assassinated two and bombed countless civilians and their helplessly pathetic government was unable to stop the carnage. Is this the kind of freedom we want to learn from this people?

The Indonesian bugger pride himself in his new found freedom but forgot there have been religious clashes between Muslims and the minority Christians with many Christians ended up being gruesomely murdered, some beheaded and their heads placed on stakes for all and sundry to see. They have bombed innocent Westerners for no rhyme or reason. The freedom in his country had also allowed angry mob to threaten our embassy, burning our flag and pelleting the embassy with rotten eggs.Is this the kind of freedom we want?

The rest of the speakers is not even worth my salt to talk about.

The Aussie bugger, leader of the pack...... as the Malay would say... pantat ayam!

If that's democracy, I'll be damned, fuck it!
